Do you think it would take a lot away from the act if I only used one canary and did not vanish one in the beginning? Id like to hear what anyone thinks. I appreciate every ones time and help.

Roham- go to http://www.molloymodernmagic.com to see the effect performed by Dave Womach.
Bryan, I don't know if I'm grasping what you are trying to achieve? The bird is one of the main focal points of the routine. You vanish the bird, only to bring it back in the climax of the routine. Why would you perform the effect without the bird. What would be the point of even having the bird and bird cage if you don't plan to vanish it? Also, I'd recommend using a parakeet... only because canary's tend to be harder to catch inside the cage and the parakeet is more willing to follow through as long as you take a lot of time to show your little buddy some attention so it won't shy away from you.... -Bryan |

I do own 2 canaries, along with my seven doves. What I am asking is to not vanish one, but just make one appear at the end only. Just not sure if I will like vanishing my canary in the devils hank........

I've vanished a parakeet in the Devils Hank countless times. It really doesn't hurt them as they are enclosed in the pocket...
To not make the initial vanish; I feel, would defeat the purpose of the effect! |

Yes, I strongly agree with Bryan Gilles. The trick is not vanish a lemon and egg and have a bird appear the from the egg. It does not make much sense the way you are doing it.
Being you show your concerns tells us that you have not practiced the effect enough with your birds. These are things that one finds out while going over and over the trick. Last resort is to use an assistant, she can take the hanks off and care for the bird. You could vanish the bird in a paper bag also. |

No I haven't practiced at all, which I don't see how that make a difference. Id rather find out by asking if my bird may be harmed then just practicing and maybe injuring it. I should be getting my Cage and table from Cliff Wiggs any day now. Who, by the way is a awesome guy to work with.

Bryan,
Cliff is a great guy and I'm sure you will enjoy his product. Practice is a must!!! I do see what you mean by being concerned about injuring your birds... Do understand that this is an effect that has been around for many years! Like most other illusions, if you perform it properly, your birds will not be harmed... If you have any questions, feel free to PM me... -Bryan |

Just a note about the devil's hank..... I use a "Dove to Silk Sensation" banner for the vanishes. I find it a stronger effect and very convenient. Place the canary in the banner and change it into a yellow silk. Place the egg into the banner and turn it into a white silk. Place the lemon into the banner and turn it into a yellow silk.
Just a thought. Cris |
