I will agree, it was a lot weaker than I thought it would be. I ordered a lot of stuff and haven't put much into trying to use it yet. I think it has a lot of potentional though. I'll keep you posted on what I come up with. It maight be a few weeks. But I will let you know what I come up with.

There is another band style PK wizard ring that just came out recently that is suppose to be 25 percent stronger than the first one. But like I said, supposedly.

Always wondered how strong they were. Opted to fashion my own ditchable (if that's a word)gaff that can be on or off the ring in a flash and as strong or weak as I need it to be, depending on the use. Only once has anyone asked to see the ring and it looks exactly as it is, an ordinary silver band. Total cost just under a buck, woo HOO!

Why can't you glue one of those super strong mini mags inside a ring to obtain the desired effect? ...

Alex_is_king_of_magic of course The Wizard PK ring won't hold a shimmed card, infact no magnet will. You need a Magnetic card, not a shimmed card.

What's a shimmed card for then?

I think they're on the right track, but for the wrong reasons. I can't imagine anything magical about a card sticking to a magnet on your hand unless you're just showing off for someone at your local magic meeting. The Wizard PK simply wasn't made for that.
But... if you had another, stronger PK mag hidden somewhere (card box?) and the shimmed card was in your hand, or in an envelope, something like that... then I feel that I could do something with that. I prefer to do things that don't scream *MAGNET!* when I use them. Something where the power is totally hidden from the effect itself.

I have 2 different kinds of shimmed cards. The one kind does stick to my PK ring really well, however, the other kind does not.

One of the flaws, in the PK ring is that the magnetic polls are at the ends of the tube and not the side of it. if you take the ring of place it on a steel surface it is very strong but when it is on the finger the only magnetic surface is the out side of the band which is the weakest part of the ring. I do find it works better with steel shimmed coins and Canadian nickels, some Mexican coins, a French coin that I have. The coins that have magnets seem to fight or repel at the the ring at the wrong time. I know this is not a great help but thought I would trough it in.

Tom, I gather that you are saying that the PK ring is axially magnetized, please correct me if I am wrong. Also, because magnets have at least 2 poles (so far ), they would have to be properly oriented to attract each other.

It is possible that I am wrong, but it appears to me that if the ring or tube was say six inches long, instead of a quarter of an inch long, the end of the tub would have a stronger pull than the out side of the tube. It is "yes" to your last question. I have a coin with a magnet in it and some times the coin is in such a position that it is repelled instead of attracted to the ring but coins and cards are not the reason I purchased the ring.
The reason I bought the ring was for an impromptu chop cup, which it is recommended to be used for. After hours of effort with various cups paper, plastic, aluminum and stainless steel, I have found to PK rink totally so inconsistent that it would only lead to unwanted exposure if used for this purpose. I’ve gone back to my own creation, the magic wart, which is just a 3/8 by 1/8 super magnet glued to the palm in a position most suitable, the covered with a round band-aid. When suspicion arises I just say it a an ugly wart, and some times, ask them if they would like to see. The usual reply is “No that’s alright”.

To increase the strength of the pk ring just buy a small neodymium magnet that is the same color as the ring. For $40 I bought a bracelet at a rock store that is completely made of all different sizes of neodymium magnets in black, gold, and silver all stuck together. I stick a small silver tube shaped magnet to my silver pk band and, as long as you don't hold your hand dead still and open, nobody can ever see it as it blends in perfectly.
As far as holding a shimmed card on the ring, I'm not sure why you would want to do this either; but the point of the shimmed card is to allow pk effects to happen, like having the deck cut itself to the selected card.

My opinion, Invest in the masterring system by John Altpeter. The best ring for the money although it is pricey! It will do the job! Comes with several routines and Ideas by Brad Burt and John.
