I watched other sawing in half illusions, posted on Magic Café, but this is nothing close to one. You're about to see on this video: youtube.com One of my favorite magicians, Brett Daniels is sawing lady in half, using no cover! What is more amazing about it, is that it is "Worlds Greatest Magic", so this is live show, and live audience. Really amazing illusion.

I haven't watched the video yet, but is this the old Raja Raboid sawing in half?
If so, then this is another standard sawing effect. EDIT: Oh wait, I just watched it. Yeah, it isn't the Raboid illusion, it is a normal sawing illusion. |

This is not a standard/normal sawing !
In this version you can take the boxes off & show the body & legs It was made by Bill Smith & if I'm not mistakes there are only 2 of them in the world (Luis De Matos has also one) |

I thought I remembered hearing that Brett sold his copy of it TO Luis De Matos. Does anyone else remember hearing this, or did I just imagine it?

Luis does show it on a video at his site.

I watch this over and over again, and I still can't figure it out, how he did it. You can clearly see her body, cut in half, when boxes are removed. There is no way, she can have her real legs, somewhere around this axe. I don't think, anyone could create such an illusion, or sell it to someone else. If these legs are fake, and upper body is real, so where her legs went? She is laying on the table, and there is nothing behind the axe...Come on guys, it is amazing !!
P.C. also, I found, this great video of Luis de Matos, doing card trick, and I wonder, of anybody knows the name of this trick. Thanks youtube.com |

This may just add to your amazement/confusion, robertk4you: Both the body and feet are real.
The illusion is definitely an impressive one, which is why it was made so exclusive; so that it had the greatest impact and would never become watered down. Quite frankly, I'm glad that there are only two (To my knowledge) performers who, or who have ever, performed this. Nick Fox |

This is a very nice variation of the classic sawing in half. It was indeed performed on World Greatest Magic. I think this is one of the versions that amazes most people.

Does anyone else see the similarity to Copperfield's Death Saw and Angels Sawing? To me they are all the same illusions.

Exactly the same principles

I was thinking about it.Its just a litte different illusion. When Copperfield or Angel perform this illusion, you actually see,saw passing thru the body,in here you don't.But as you already saw the video,he show the body anyway, which is a lot different from other cut in half illusions.I bet 100$,masked magician, wont duplicate this illusion:)

It´s the same illusion, just different presentations. And here is where the difference is made, in the presentation. That´s why the great ones are always great.

The body positioning is just different in the sawing in half illusion but the method is the same as DC's.

Nice video. Talk about an uncomfortable effect! This is why I do the magic part! Box jumping is tough. I have been inside a standard thin-model saw in half. I tried it on for size when I bought mine. This box is not a comfortable place, but do not tell that to my assistants! I have them convinced otherwise
Brett's show closed in the Mississippi casino quite a while back. Where is he working these days?
Wonder is very necessary in life. When we're little kids, we're filled with wonder for the world - it's fascinating and miraculous. A lot of people lose that. They become cynical and jaded, especially in modern day society. Magic renews that wonder.
