Very interesting. The man was a genius. In the video the lady had to turn around to duck under a horizontal strip that is no longer in the modern versions of the illusion. One other change pool cue and wand designer Thomas Wayne designed for my zig zag is that mine works mechanically. Without tipping the secret, all I need to do is to pull on a handle on the side of the center section with one hand and the box does the work of making the optical illusion contained in the center section occur without the need for the right hand. So there are always retrofits that can improve on original ideas. But again, Harbin's brilliance is evident and few have been able to match his ingenuity.

I hope you do what Harbin INSISTS is important and have a lady spectator push part way, THEN PUT IN THE BLADES... as written in the original Harbin Book.

I was not aware that was how Harbin did it. I rememeber seeing a video of him doing th eeffect which I still say is the greatest illusion out there, but hey I just love the effect. That is a good way to do it with the blades inserted aftere half of the move is done. Another thing I liked about seeing Harbin do his was that he had music playing in the back ground but he did the effect to patter and not just a fast music bit. I learn more everyday I am here. Yeah there really are a lot of great things about the way he did it (its the small things that really make it magical.)
Its amazing to me how illusions evolve and unfortunetly sometimes we as magicans (myself included) cut out parts trying to improve the trick and we loose something that the creator has already put a lot of thought and performances into. I personaly love the stomach touching stuff. Maybe I have'nt seen enough Zig Zags (and I have never owned one my self) but I have never seen that before and I think it is way clever (am out out in left feild?) thanks for posting this! I am glad I saw it.

I agree that the tickle box work really helps to sell the illusion, as does the sliding of the middle section, just before the blades are put in. That's why I'm thinking about building one - it would really suit my performing style. I find that performing under such conditions really makes my performance.
