I got interested in the World's Fastest Magician, Mr. Eldon D. Wigton, aka Doctor Eldoonie from Sunbury, Ohio. He performed 225 magical effects within two minutes - according to the 1991 through 1997 editions of the "Guinness Book of World Records."
Does anyone know how these effects was performed, who confirmed the effects as real magic effects and is there a description/video anywhere to see? |

I judged a show for Guniness years ago before Eldon did his record attempt. This show would never win any prizes. It is simply bragging rights. Basically, it was the finish of all the tricks, lined up on a table and the buttons or levers pressed and fast as one could.

Of course, it is just for bragging/marketing purposes. No one can do anything under these conditions. Were you asked by the Guiness company to jugde the attempt?
What kind of effects was it you saw? I am considering going for some kind of magical record attempt, just for the sport of it - and a little bragging. |

It is kind of rough to remember as I was fighting the flu when we did the taping. Basically, this is when the television show (hosed by Shawn Showich (sp) ), aired and Guiness wanted magicans to verify that they were indeed tricks. Artie Kidwell, Howard Flint and myself were the judges.
There were card revelations, c&r rope, restorations, appearances, vanishes. I know that is kind of vauge but go through a magic catalog and just figure out how you can cut to the climax of a trick and not the whole trick. Hope that helps. Richard

When you've given up on being "The World's Most Entertaining Magician," I guess you go for speed.

Other than bragging rights, I don't see the point. I would honestly be too tired to perform that many tricks in that short of time!

That doesn't sound that impressive. I got some kids in my SYM that perform that fast ALL the time.

Hank Klock the duch magician recently showed 10 grand illusions in 5 minutes on tv. He was labeled "Fastest Magician of the World". Despite it was a funny piece to watch, it realy didn't make sense. It was like an illusionist on speed
But with these things you get tv-time. Fortunately Hans Klock has a great full evening show and there IS time for drama, choreography and entertainment skills. |
