The expanded shell revolutionized coin magic, so many uses! The copper/silver coin has a lot of uses as well.

Runners up would have to be folding coins and flipper coins. Smile

If you are in the market for gaffs, Johnson products are great. I recently received a hopping halve in walking liberty and the workmanship is great. The shell for the half is the best I've ever seen, much better than my Sasco liberty shell.

In my view, I think the expanded shell and the flipper are the best gaffed coins. Get Troy Hooser’s book and you’ll know what I mean. Smile

The expanded shell is by far the ultimate coin gaff. Magicians like Dean Dill have made coin effects miracles with a shell.
Thank you,

Hi, I would also have to say the Expanded shell. I have worked out so much cool stuff with it over the last 25 years! And there is so much killer stuff you can do with it.

Also The two copper one silver gaff. And if you combine them with a rattle gimmick so they sound like real coins they really kill!

With the 2c/1s. you can then hear the coins

change places as well as see the coins change places!

There are lots of other cool coin gaffs too. But I think those are the best. thanks.

I've got the 2 copper 1 silver trick and I never perform it. Any cool routines to recommend?

I have to say that I like both the copper/silver and the expanding shell. I love my Johnson Hopping Half Sets.

The best gaff I've seen is Lassen's Flipper and the book above that people keep mentioning. He had just a few copies at TAOM, and I was impressed by the content and many routines for his Flipper Coin.

Hi Bernard,

As to what routines you can do with Two Copper - One Silver:

1. For a change routine try my Chinese Con in my sound routines book ( A book on the rattle gimick). Where all three coins change into Chinese coins at the end and you are left clean.

2. I have a Coins Across using it in my Las Vegas Notes.

3. And Purse Frame routine in the same book.

4. A Coins Through the Table in my coinjuring book

5. And three matrix routines in the same book .

Todd Lassen made me A barbar copper-silver-brass set with a solid brass coin so I get the best of both worlds. That is the best of A C/S/B/ and A 2C/1S. in one set.

Hope this helps. If you would like more info E-Mail me

thanks.

Hello John Zander! You mentioned the work of Dean Dill with shells; does he have any of his work with coins & specifically shells in print?

I have a Now-u-c-it thingy and find it useless. Don't get me wrong, It looks Killer, but I just have this thing about using gimmicks. To me they look to good to be true. People "know" it was a "magic coin".

If I can't hand it out for examination on demand, I probably wouldn't use it. But that's just me.

I must agree that the expanded shell and the copper/silver coin are two of the best gaffs out there. As far as where to get these, Johnson does make good products, but by far Todd Lassen makes the best coin gaffs available. I’ve seen and use a lot of his coins and they’re all just about as good as it can get. You can find a listing of some of his work at:

So many great and pretty effects with a shell. Just picked up a Walking Liberty Expanded Shell and will begin replacing it with my other shells as soon as tomorrow's restaurant gig.

Just have fun, willya? Smile
