It is not covered.
I am also intrested in learning the art. I have started venturing into suggestion, but I would love to learn more about stage hypnosis. It seems a lot of you guys are suggesting courses. But what if that's not an option? Whats the best avenue? Did you all start out from courses? I am open to PMs on the subject. But I have a passion for learning this. Suggestion is just a small avenue. Any help would be greatful. (by the by, I am in the US of A...so maybe a USA resource?) -Seeker
I've been training these cards since they were small.

Actually, the National Guild of Hypnotists offers basic certification training in the UK (which I suggest for ALL beginning students for a variety of reasons that I have listed numerous times in here). Their web page at http://www.ngh.net lists the trainers available there. After that, Jerry Valley and Tommy Vee usually do at least one stage hypnosis Master's Course every year in the UK as well.
I would NOT recommend distance learning as hypnosis is a communicative process and things like voice pitch and tonal control, pace and cadences are simply not something that you can get FEEDBACK on from a dvd or even from a printed course. And those skills, among others, are a necessity to be a success as a stage performer. Lastly, I would avoid like the plague ANYONE who says that they will make you a master stage hypnotist by remote teaching by using any form of instruction short of virtual classroom work where you are online in a multi-way video link with the instructor and the other students. For the reasons I stated above on distance learning, if nothing else. Also, in reading over instructional material, look for things like excessive puffery, the use of other people's show materials, lots of endorsements (like 30 pages of them) and the like before you get into the meat of ANY book. Any author who does that, is padding his material to make it look like he wrote it when he didn't write the bulk of it, at all. Just some notes from a working pro. I hope they help and wish you all success. Lee Darrow, C.H.

If voice pitch, tone, cadence cannot be learned fron a CD or DVD. How come Linguaphone and Berliz are still in business?

Howard, Linguaphone and Berlitz teach, primarily SPEAKING language skills, not submodalities, pacing, leading and TIMING, nor do they teach you how to speak in a manner that is pleasant to listen to, which, arguably, is part and parcel of the hypnotist's stock-in-trade.
Also, as ANY language instructor will tell you, both of these companies do NOT teach a person to become fluent in the intacacies of a language, but strive to give the student a glossing overview OF a language. And Neither of these programs gives the sudent feedback on how good their ACCENT happens to be. How many bad Berlitz jokes have been done that are based on the poorly pronounced repetitions of the students? Answer: LOTS! "O-HAY o GO ZAY MASUU, y'all! Ah'm fr'um Suth'rn Japan!" - Randy Yamamoto, to me at a Science Fiction Convention about 25 years ago in Tucson, AZ... Nuff Said. Lee Darrow, C.H.

Lee.
Would I be correct in saying that before meeting with and being studied by Bandler and Grinder, Milton Erickson didn't know he was using sub modalities, leading and pacing ? He just did it and it worked. Howard |
