I know the owner of the River Center shop (I get discounts and stuff), but I would suggest going to Jcr. The rivercenter one is a tourist magic shop. They aren't selling towards regular magicians. They jsut sell to people walking around. It is where I got started though. JCR is quite far from downtown, but it's a nice little shop, and everyone there is great. It's not open on sundays or Mondays though.

Yeah, those are the only two in town. Magic world is really "touristy" and they sell to that audience (ie, simple effects designed to be done quickly. A lot of street magic type stuff like IT rigs and the like). They now have three full walls dedicated to pranks and the like, so if that's your thing.....
On the other hand, JCR's is on Northwest Loop 410. There is some construction there right now, so it's a little hard to get to, but they are the real supplier in San Antonio. Julio is a AWESOME guy and they will work with you to helo you find exactly what you are looking for. Both places do sell basic supplies (TT's silks, IT, wax, etc.), but as for an actual magic shop, JCR's is the place to go!
