I was curious if I'm just missing something. I used to really like the old 'go to page' functionality, where all the pages were listed at the bottom and I could jump to any one of them I wanted. Now it seems that you can only jump to the very end, the very beginning, or move one page forward or backward (unless your at the beginning, in which case you can jump two pages to page 3). On more frequently visited forums, like Pick a card...any card, there are so many pages, that if I want to jump to a page in the middle of them all for some reason, I have to literally click through them all one at a time.
So I'm wondering if this is either just me missing something obvious (very likely ), or if this really is the new and only way to do it. If so, I personally would love to see it go back to the way it was before...where I could jump to any page in the list. Of course this is just me voicing my opinion. I certainly understand you guys have tons to do and this is by no means a priority. Just thought I'd mention it, thanks

This is really the new way the pagination works. We did it this way to streamline the long lists of page numbers on some of the threads. I would think that doing a search for whatever you're looking for would be a faster way of finding it than looking through all the topics, one page at a time.

This is very true, a search is much quicker. Its just that there is so much valuable information on this site, that I love to read through all of it. Sometimes I find myself with a lot of free time, so I like to peruse through the old pages of posts, absorbing what those who came before me have to offer. If I left off at page 100 of the Pick a Card forum, and wanted to go back there, I would literally have to click through 100 pages again to start up where I left off. As opposed to before, where I could just click on the link to page 100 and be taken right there, or page 101, or 102, etc.
I understand your reasons, and I'm really not complaining. I love this site and everyone here is so helpful. I just thought I would go ahead and mention my one wish. As I said, I didn't think that this would be an idea anyone would go for, but I thought I'd mention it anyway. On those days when I like to surf through the past pages of the forums, its just a LOT slower than before. I guess this is one instance where I just loved the old method. Thanks for reading my suggestion though.

If you want a quick way to go ten pages further, just go to page 2 and look at the URL in your browser's address bar. If you look at that you'll see "start=30". 30 is the setting (I think), so if you wanted to jump ten more pages, just click in the URL and change the "30" to "300" and hit enter. Then you'll be at page 11 (every page is 30). Just a thought for you, if you do want to jump so many pages.
Somebody kick me off the computer, will ya?

Fantastic! Thank you very much for that. I really appreciate it. Once again, the Café members are beyond comparison when it comes to friendliness and kindness.

Have you ever considered sorting posts beginning with the most recent? I regularly visit another forum which uses this format and I find it and personally prefer it.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. If the posts were sorted starting with the most recent, you'd be looking at the edn of the "conversation when you open a topic to read. If you wanted to start reading from the beginning of the conversation, you'd have to go to the end of the topic and start reading the posts in backwards order. That seems rather inconvenient to me. Or did you mean something else?
