As a Newbie I am going through all of the things that you have done already. That includes buying lots of things to find how they work. There are some good quality products out there (example a brass Bill tube) which are excellent value for money. I want to buy the Raven, but I want to make sure that I am buying another piece of equipment that is well made and will last a long time. Can any of you guy's recommend a good version/source available to the UK ? Also I see advertisements for the 'universal Raven'. Which is better the original or the uni ?

The Raven is an excellent buy. There will be some wear on some of the parts, but they are easily replaced yourself. The effects you can perform with the Raven are very magical, especially when done in the specs hands. Buy the Raven.

The original source is from Chuck Leach the creator at http://www.chazpro.com.
As long as the magic shop stocks his Raven, it is the original. nitram, to find out more about the Raven, type the word "Raven" into the search engine of this website. Also go to the first year archives and do the same. You will find plenty of reading on this. |

nitram, raven is more suitable for perfoming with a long sleeved shirt, although u can still do it wearing a short-sleeved t-shirt. so ask yourself what is your daily routine, does it involve wearing a long sleeved shirt.e.g. office worker? if so, then raven would be perfect for u. think abt it.
never try, never know

I would get the raven,
I own about three or four diffrent versions of the visual coin vanish Vapor coin, Raven, uni. Raven, But as far as props go your best bet is the raven. When I got it I only did what blaine did but when it was exposed on fox I invented my own routine witch I plan on posting. DA |

As I am New to this I now understand how the raven can be used. I have also come across the M5 at illusionist.com. I know that this is used to perform a different type of effect. Is this also a worth while 'investment' ? It costs $90 + shipping to UK.

M5 is not totally different to Raven, and yes M5 is great but it's pricey too, the lowest price should be about $79.95 that you may found easily on the 'net.
Let's get back to the Raven, though it's good, but to achieve similar vanishing effect, I'd recommend The Bat instead, as it'd be much eaiser to handle for beginner, of course if you insist want to achieve the cleanest result made with Raven (for vanshing only), then you'll have no other choice, but Bat could also do it good enough and you may use Bat to do PK magic as well, like to mentally move small objects on the table. M5 is an enhanced version of Bat, with much larger of power, it can even to flip a coin (sold separately) on spectator's hand. If money is not an issue, then I'd highly recommend to get a M5, otherwise, Bat is also good enough for beginners, for the Raven, it'll need more time to make it workable, say, you'll have to try to find a suitable place to hook it up for different effects, and to practice quite some time to perfect the "empty hand" moves. Just my 2 cents P.S. If you're going to buy the Raven, don't forget to buy the Raven Video, or you'll miss many important and useful advises. That's the same to Bat. Quote:

I also have it, tried to perform twice only, though I got good reaction on both performances but I do not have enough confidence on its gimmick, I feel, it's not that secured for the hook-up ..... and for the refill, do you know other than the suggested material found in the manual, any other alternative could be used as replacement ? Thank you! ** Sorry for off topic ** |

Hey,
Put one of the gimmicks in the strap of your watch and it works much better. E-mail me and I'll send you a great routine. It's one of my inventions and I'm happy to share it with you. (and I hope were talking about the same product) magic10@cheatcc.com DA |
