I'm looking at the LightSpeed wireless PA system (click HERE for more info). Has anyone purchased or used this system, and what do you think of it?
For the price, it seems to be pretty well equipped -- 30 watts continuous power, diversity antennas, 100 UHF high-frequency channels, battery/AC option, AT lapel mic, etc. I'd like to know how well it actually performs, how durable/reliable it is, and whether there are any quality, service or other issues I should be aware of. This unit runs about $200 more than a PASO ProCast50 system, another 30-watt 16-channel diversity system, which also looks pretty good. Just wondering if the extra money is well spent. Usually you get what you pay for with audio equipment, is that the case here? I would be using this for sound reinforcement at street fairs and trade shows (where permitted). So I don't need heavy-duty amplification, only enough to save my voice and punch through the background noise. Thanks in advance for any thoughts. SETH

If I were you I'd check out what alan munro (cafe member) uses.
the crate limo. 50 watts. 10" woofer. battery operated. and you get to use the mic setup of your choice instead of paying for some cheap setup they toss in. And it fits on a standard speaker-stand. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/C......u=487761 I don't own one but its specs. indicate that it should do well and Alan seems to love it. Frank

Thanks, Frank, for the tip. I took a look, but apparently that model has been discontinued. But in browsing around, I also saw a Fender Passport P-80 which looked interesting, but it might be more power than I need (80 watts, if the specs are accurate).
I'll be interested to see what other comments come in. Since this will also be for trade show use, I would think the unit should have at least a couple of selectable channels, so I'm not broadcasting over someone else's system and vice versa. SETH

I think they have it. if I didn't have a pd-150 I would pick it up in a heartbeat.

I like it a lot. I think it's convenient and has nice features. it has a battery pack option and a wireless option.
two speakers that sound darn good. I used to have the florida pa and there is no comparison. even at very low volume levels, my voice sounds so real compared to that piece of crap. I should have known better. the woofer is only about 6" so the low end is not super duper. for indoor shows up to 300 people, I think it's great. I did an outdoor gig at a ballpark and thought that it sounded a little weak in the low end. but this is also a situation where I play music before and during my act. not just voice. I play before to gather attention. the low end just sort of disappeared once I was 30 feet away. for just voice, I think you can get away with it for sure. if I had it to do over again, I'd get the stagepas 300. 10" woofers, twice the power, etc. another tidbit is the mic. with a wired mic or a handheld mic there is enough power for me for my shows. with my audiotechnica earset (very small mic along the cheek) it is very low power and I have to turn it all the way up. the pd also has some sort of anti-feedback circuit which does seem to help with my omni earpiece mic. I like it.
