First of all, Thank you for being here, and although I am not familiar with many of your works, I recently purchased your 3 DVD set and it should be arriving soon.
However, I am a HUGE Bannon fan. Most of my ideas and favorite routines come from Bannon routines, and as a law student, its nice to know that I won't be the only working magical lawyer 10 years from now. Anyway, Although I love his works, I don't know anythign about him. At all. He's a lawyer in chicago who "does card tricks" even though his first book was anything but. and that's it. I don't think there's a Bannon Biography, and he doesn't (to my knowledge) lecture (anymore) or go to conventions often, so could you perhaps give us a short (or long, if oyu prefer) "Bannography" on him as you did with Malone? I'm sure A whole lot of people, besides me, would also appreciate it. Thank you, Noel Dominguez. |

John is a truly nice, quiet laid back kind of guy, with all the smarts that you would guess from reading his books.
His magic speaks for itself, and you’re in a big club (including me) who thinks he’s absolutely tops at creating deceptive, entertaining and practical close-up magic. But he’s not the kind of public person that a professional like Bill Malone is, and I don’t think this is the place to discuss his private life. (It’s not that interesting, anyway, unless you have a thing for reinsurance litigation). But he’s really not quite as inaccessible as you make it sound. He still lectures frequently (in the past year or so he lectured at LVMI, on a Spanish lecture tour, and more recently at the Louisiana Magic Convention). You can see him perform his magic from Impossibilia and Smoke and Mirrors on his two early videos (now available on DVD from Meir Yedid) where he was, and still looked, young. I just spoke with him (he’s still hard at work at the office) and asked if he had anything to add, but he says this is fine. And he wants you to know he’s accessible if your paths ever cross at a convention. Simon
