Hi All,
I am looking for a case where to put all the tricks of my kid show. The suitcase will be put on stage, therefore it should stay on a telescopic leg or something similar. I saw lots of them in dvd and/or video of performers but don't know where to order I think it is an essential tool for a show. Thanks in advance for your help/Fabio |

Consider using a catalog case. I found one at Staples. It has a telescoping collapsible handle and wheels. I can carry enough props for several shows and the one I bought was inexpensive. They even have one that has a little desktop that folds out for laptops or writing. I use mine for every show and when it wears out I will probably get another one. Hope this helps.

I still prefer my Lefler suitcase style tabe. I can have it loaded with multiple shows all ready to go at a moments notice. It wheels in and sets up in nothing flat.

Home Depot has a very nice Husky brand aluminum tool case that looks like a large briefcase for $19.95. Attach snap open legs to the bottom and you have an instant showcase. Also apparently comes in red.

I use, for kids shows, a large aluminum case. What it is, or was, is a divers case, used to carry skin diving gear. It is light, strong, and has an unusual look to it.

I use a plastic bin that has a skirt that attaches with velcro. then I put it all on a folding camp table from wal-mart the whold thing ran about 15.00 and I can change the skirting to give it different looks for different events.

I like the Lefler table, and it is my main table. I have lugged my around all over for about 6 years now, and it is as sturdy as it was the day I bought it. The only issues I have with it are:
1) I wish it came with larger soft rubber wheels. 2) I wish it was made from that airplane aluminum instead of heavy plywood. I'm getting old . . . Skip Quote: Where do you get these???
Attach snap open legs to the bottom and you have an instant showcase. BTW Sams Club has a nice 4 foot folding table that comes in red & black. It folds up like a suit case, and even has a handle! |

I use a very similar style table for use for my sound systemor as an information table or even a small BOR table for some gigs. It works out reallywellfor us to have it in the truck and ready to use.

BTW, there is a section of the Café all about the topics of suitcases, cases, etc. It's called "Where to put it all..." Its under the "Close Up Workers" section, but covers more than close-up tables and cases.
Probably many useful threads there for you to read through. Thought you might want to know, if you haven't discovered that area yet. - Donald

Cap'n,
Re: Snap Open Legs: There are several instant open tables on the market. I believe Osbourne Illusions markets the plans for an easy fold instant open table. Daytona Magic had a nice version made of wood at KIDabra. I saw an aluminum set on Hocus-Pocus.com not too long ago. There might even be plans for them in Tarbell. My memory ain't what it used to be! That doesn't negate having a favorite section. I certainly have my favorites. There is a wealth of good ideas on older (often ignored) threads. I wasn't necessarily suggesting he spend all of his time elsewhere, but more suggesting that he could do some research there as well as here, reading threads. Not all research has to be done by asking questions. Sometimes the answers are already around waiting to be discovered. I know that you and I agree that research is a good thing. - Donald

With 1.5 Million Posted Messages, yes, one can find a wealth of information here on the Café, just by doing a search.

I use a case like the Husky from Home Depot, but I got mine at Lowe's. The HD brand looks more like a tool case, and the Lowe's brand has smoother edges.

I love my Lefler table. It packs a huge number of props, and keeps them neatly in place so I'm ready to go. But, the table is not for everyone. It is about 3 feet tall in closed position, and it is designed to be transported in an upright position. So, you have to have enough height in your vehicle. Also, I would avoid putting it on the back seat, since the casters could eventually damage the fabric. I drive a Jeep Cherokee, and it fits perfectly in the back.

An old suitcase is a handy item to have. Sometimes, I think it is David Ginn's trademark.

Those Lefler tables are the best (I own one about 7 years old and like new.), and they are fairly easy to make if you need a special size. I am no carpenter, but I made a large case on wheels and a cube-style case that sits on a tripod stand.
