I first heard of this man in Paolo Cavalli's book,Upsilon.
Check out this link that describes some of his "experiments" http://www.gustavorol.org/experiments.htm Maybe Paolo can share more information about Rol. Any video footage available? Were there any magicians present when he performed? Any books on Rol in english? Can you imagine what it would have been like sitting at that table watching him in action? Woodfield |

Having Charles DeGaulle stating something like that about you (rather than about Rol) is something that would have surely put you on top of many other performers if printed on your brochure and business cards. |

Maybe Paolo can share more information about Rol. Any video Probably yes, however I don't know of ANY public video. If they are there, his family is keeping them jealously guarded. As you may have read, Rol never performed "Geller like" style. All of the people usually went to HIS house. Even famous people such as Albert Einstein or Federico Fellini were usually the ones going to him, not the other way. Quote:

And sure, few magicians MAY have tried to sneak in uninvited while some formally asked to be invited. Two very famous magicians (at least, they were famous at that time) asked for invitation. One got refused and the other was allowed. I have some friends who personally saw Rol in action and who know a great deal about the famous magician who was accepted to Rol's house. As for the books in english, I could only do what you also can do, run a search on search engines... Quote:

Thanks for answering my questions.
So maybe he didn't die with his secrets? -Woodfield |

Woodfield,
IF there was any secret to be found (something which I doubt at this point) then, no, he did not die with them. If you want to discuss it further, and if you can make up for my "not so good" english, you can mail me at paolo_cavalli@yahoo.com.mx Also, keep in mind that I don't know anything about Neuro-Theology and I only guess this is something Rol family allowed because is something Rol would have wanted it so. But, guys, I'm only assuming that. For what I know this could be some people trying to get some publicity using Rol's name. Or anything in between.

It's important to recognize that this article is comprised of recollections of laymen at a remove of some years. If some of these effects seem impossible, it might be because they are, and what Rol did was quite different. OTOH some of the effects are quite obvious, but apparently astonished the spectators. If there's one thing to get from this it is that reluctance to perform is a good thing. Rol would say, "OK, bring them over, but don't ask me to do my experiments" and then do his experiments. Brilliant! Anyway, I've started thinking about what his effects must have been. Unfortunately this description is completely unreliable- I wish there were a report from a magician, written on the spot. |
