MindFreak.
This may be old news, but didn't realize until just now (after watching a clip from a news channel) that Criss Angel has the #1 show, not only on A&E, but cable TV. Period. How do you feel about this?.. I think Criss is good for T.V., but that's about it.. The guy who had Criss on the news asked him if he could teach him to walk up a wall.. I wonder how America will feel if/after they find out it's BS.. Also, what is going on? a Magic show getting #1 on Cable TV, 2 Major "Magic Movie" releases.. Do you think magic is coming back to be maybe as popular as it was in the 80's/Early 90's soon? |

Those who worship Criss because they believe he really is some awesome supernatural magician will be dissapointed when they learn its camera tricks. ( recently on a video site some guy was saying Copperfield sucked because he had to do magic on stage using trick methods but Criss Angel didn't need all the trick theatrical stuff because he could do all his magic on the street surrounded by people ) I suspect these nuts will loose faith in their hero. On the other hand.... there are those who simply enjoy the entire Angel persona and won't care. Do I care that Copperfield wasn't for real??? No.. I enjoyed being fooled and I suspect many of Criss's fans will feel the same way. The fact that Elvis couldn't play a guitar and faked it for many years of his career didn't cost him any fans I suspect. Time will tell but I think that Mr. Angel has crossed the safe point. If a copy cat comes out anytime soon they may find a different story. Best, Tim |

As much as I'd like to to be true that Mindfreak is the top show on TV, I've looked into the ratings, and he isn't even in the top ten for cable. I do believe that his show is the highest rated on A&E, but definitely not for cable in general. It looks like The Closer is currently on top.

Well, it looks like the news channel lied..
"Criss has never broken into the top 15 of cable shows. On his premiere he won his time slot for his demographic (he was #1 in that sense). The #1 claim is *very* exaggerated. News programs are simply repeating his press release." Sorry for misinforming you gentelman. |

Gene Simmons show wasn't on tonight...LOL That should tell you what I watch A&E, actually watch Mindfreek from time to time but as with all tv it gets old after a while. Gene Simmons show is funny and shows a side of him people are not aware of.

I have to admit I like Mindfreak, and look forward to it each week. I do get the feeling though that spectators expect every magician to be able to float, disappear while surrounded, walk on water, etc.

I like how he acknowledged all of us tonight when he said "notice there is no breaks, passes, or forces. You magicians know what I am talking about"

This explains a lot. I had a hard time believing his show was #1 of anything. I never bothered to actually look into it though, but I'm not surprised to see I'm right. Not saying the show is bad, but he's not really my cup of java. I just see him as trying to play off of what Blaine started with his specials. Just goes to show, you can't believe anything you see on TV.
Mallusionist definition of the Simple force: The cards are fanned and if the spectator tries to take the wrong card, the magician holds onto the deck really, really tight.
