I take one coin by the thumb and the first finger of my left hand. Another coin is classic palmed on my right hand. when I use my right thumb and first finger to take the coin of my left hand, I secretly drop the palmed coin to the finger palm position of my left hand. This is a method taught in David Stone's DVD that can hide a coin secretly without notice.
Here is my problem. I have difficulty dropping the coin exactly to the finger palm position. Every time I do the transfer, the coin is dropped on my fingers but not finger palm position, which makes it an awkward condition for me to do the following routine. Could anyone give me some advice or is there any other teaching video about the "Transfer"? Thank you. |

David Stone has some great information.
I would suggest the following.... 1. Try it to music 2. Slow it down to extremely slow pace... then bring it back up to speed gradually 3. Practice 4. Practice 5. Practice. When I started I thought my hands were to small to do coin magic. Palming one coin was impossible. Now I release 1 coin out of 5 or 6 at a time and can work with dime to silver dollar size coins. It is a journey. I grew up in coin books and manuscripts, but now find things like Michael Rubenstein(here on the coin section a lot) encyclopedia of coin sleights great to go back to.. Learning the basics is a great foundation for things to come... Enjoy the process..... If it was easy everyone would to it. Get it down prior to sharing it with your audiences.... Finding a teacher in your area would help as well... We have IBM and SAM in our area... Harris Deutsch Laughologist and Nearly Normal Magician

This sort of thing should be discussed in secret sessions maybe or by PM, and I would agree totally with my "near normal" friend Harris here , mostly as to you continuing to practice this move (and all moves, really). All of it really happens from developing a "feel" for it. No great instructions on how to do it, just keep playing with it and it will come, and it will get smoother and smoother I promise you. Good Luck and welcome to the forum. -MB

There are many ways to accomplish this. Remember, hand size veries from individual to individual, so the coin may not drop for one person in the exact same place as another. so, lets jazz a little. Instead of holding the coin with the left thumb and first finger, display it on your left palm. Take the coin with your right fingers, and drop the classic palmed coin onto the base of your left fingers.
Or, hold the coin with the left thumb and first finger, but first transfer the classic palmed coin to fingertip rest, and follow with the Geoff Latta transfer found on the LVMI LIVE DVD (I think it was that one), or on the NYCMS COINS ACROSS DVD. There are many changeover palms out there, check the Encyclopedia of Coin Sleights for a few more. Good luck!

I know the transfer you're talking about, and all I can say along the lines of helping you with the FP problem is practice to music and in front of a mirror. it's what Harris said, but that's all it takes. good luck and I hope you get the knack of it soon.
