Well since initially posting this topic, I have started using a few self workers and I have to admit, they do go down really well, and in a way, they sometimes go down better because even the most alert people looking for a sleight or some trickery are fooled, simply because there is no trickery involved!

Here's a self-working trick from the gambling world. Hand a deck to a spectator and ask them to shuffle the cards. Then have them name any two card values, not specific suits just the values; like a Four and a Seven. Then bet them that those cards are now side by side in the pack. Have them spread the cards and the odds are that there will be a Four and a Seven side by side in the deck.
