Does anyone have any good tricks or point me to some links for tricks that pertain to epytian curses, pharoahs and things related to those ancient times. I know I have seen a couple of them around, hocus pocus has one but at a hefty $1200 called the Zauber Zentrale Mummy Garden. I am not looking for one particular trick just anything related to this era and of curse spooky. Also, do any of you have "Hetepheres" and could offer a review? Thanks!

Depending on exactly what you seek, there are a number of publications that might be of help
Consider checking the Dragonskull website (search herein for the actual website as I am still waking up and cannot quite remember the URL- sorry!) in the UK, and if you can locate a copy of the Compleate Invocation, you should find some items within (among many others) that might answer your needs. Mr. Chelman- known hereabouts as the Curator of the Surnateum, has a lovely item in Capricornian Tales with Scarabs- the actual beetle itself, not the little carvings. Are you looking for items for going into a haunt? show? or similar? We might be able to direct you better if we have a weee bit more info. Close up, Table top/Parlor. Stage sized? k

... and another one based on tutankamen's curse using various - 13, in fact - egyptian amulets and a Vth dynasty cursing tablet. In the same book.
Another one re-enact the weighting of souls. The first routine is a little expensive to reproduce if, like me, you use the real mc Coy. |

Ed Solomon has an ebook of Egyptian magic, and a few of his routines on dragonskull.co.uk are also Egypt-themed.

The "Mummified Scarab" in The Wizards' Journal # 3 (on my site) is a variation of Fu Manchu's Isis Illusion, converted into a large Egyptian Ouija Board, except that we call it a "channeling board" that uses the scarab as the little moviee thingee. Anyway, that article has authentic Egyptian hieroglyphs and translations that you may find of use. Even if you are not looking for a stage illusion, the same idea could be converted to a table-top presentation for performing in the depths of the pyramids at your next bizarre convention (I still can't get over the CT Bizarre gathering being held in a posh hotel instead of a cemetary at the edge of town).

First of all thanks for all the responses and links! Kaytracy, I was/am looking for eerie/spookey kind of tricks that would entail a good story to go along with it (which I have no problem making one). I want something that will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up or goose bumps and chills from the knowledge a curse is in the air or a spirit who is manipulating items is present. I would like to incorporate them into a halloween show, not necessarily for this year since it is closing fast or just a show I would do every now and then. Hope that sheds a little more light. Thanks again!

Hollingworth has a creepy card effect called "VooDoo" in Drawing Room Deceptions that would be perfect as an example of Egyptian sympathetic magic. Ancient Egyptian Magic by Bob Brier is an excellent resource guide on actual Egyptian magic that should give you ideas for patter and approach.
