Hi,
I gave my dove peanut butter for the first time the other day. When I put it in, they kind of stomped about in it a bit, had a quick sniff and then looked at me as if to say, "What am I supposed to do with this?" Is this normal? It was mixed in with their normal feed, and I fed them at the same time that I allways do. Did I do something wrong, or is this normal?

As time goes by, you'll learn that there is nothing normal about doves Some doves like peanut butter and others do not. I found that if I mix it with their seed, they either just play with it or stop eating. I just put a little on a paper plate and set it in the cage. I just do this once in awhile as a treat.
You can also put some peanut butter on small pieces of bread. Most doves like the bread and take the peanut to get at it.

Great idea. I will try this next week. I did notice yesterday when I went to feed them that there wa still pleanty of seed left from the previous dayy too. So I left it for the day, and now it all seems to be gone. Could it be that they just need to get used to it?
