I just want to share this. I got my new copper/silver in my own currency in the mail today. I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am about this. I got a norwegian 20 kroner coin with a Peruvian coin attached to its back. I am just so happy about this, and glad that I went through with this custom order!
Thanks Todd. Jim

Congratulations Jim
I love performing copper / silver routines, and it's always nice to have coins that make sense in the context of your routines. I'm sure it's beautiful set... Todd's stuff always is. Have fun with it Jim. Best, Mike |

Hi Mike! What's you favorite C/S routine? Mine is Curtis Kam's Coercive Purse.

Hi Jim,
Glad you like your C/S coin. I myself like it very much and frankly if I have to recommend a gaff coin to people to begin with I'd recommend C/S. It's versatile and relatively "rigid", so you don't need to be extra careful with handling them. Afterall it is a solid coin ;-) I'm also saving up to have a sun & moon set made of barber from Todd, which also has a C/S =) My favorite C/S routine is the transposition of a copper and a silver in Jay Sankey's Revoluationary Coin magic. It's a quicky using HPC and looks really nice. You may also want to check out a wild coin-like routine there using a deck of cards arranged in a triangular shape.
It only takes a minute to learn how it is done, but takes a lifetime to learn how to do it.

I've always loved Curtis Kam's "Triple Alliance", though technically it's a CSB routine, it requires a C/S coin and not a CSB gimmick. Very cool effect. Doc Eason has an excellent C/S routine, unfortunately I can't remember the name or which video it was on. It's a simple routine that works into the spector's hand and requires a one-handed switch... if anyone can sight this one I'd appreciate it. But I'd say that my favorite is one that Dan Watson does, I think it's called "Double Take Transposition", in his first book. If that's the one I'm thinking of, it's the simplest and most deceptive C/S "hand off to a spectator" I've ever seen.
Not to brag, but I'm also pretty happy with my "Appreciation of Silver" routine from the Tavern Magic books as well Best, Mike |

If you like the copper/silver gaff, you might check out a Sun/Moon coin. Just to show Mike is not bragging, I also recommend his Tavern Magic 1 and 2 for some versatile routines with copper/silver and the sun/moon gaffs. Mike also has a great routine for the copper/silver in his ebook Amalgamated Steal.

Thanks for your answers everybody.
And thanks for reminding me Mike, about the Triple Alliance. It is one of the most fantastic C/S/B routines I've ever seen. I'm currently looking for the 3rd coin for this routine. I've got my Norwegian C/S coin, and a Peruvian sun coin. But I need a third coin with matching size. Perhaps the us quarter is the same size? I'll definitely check out Tavern Magic. Jim

The C/S gaff is one of the most useful ones IMO. My favorite use of it is for Foreign Exchange which can be found in 21st Century Coin Mechanics. You'll need to learn the Double Helix Change but with it you'll be able to perform some very baffling coin magic.

I'm not sure if a US quarter is the same size... I'd probably ask Todd what coin to use for the third... maybe even have a gaff made of that one too
Thanks for the kind words Jon, I was going to mention Amalgamated Steal, but since it requires a couple other items in addition to the C/S, I held back Heh, I've been playing with one of my C/S sets since this morning... they are fun to fool with Best, Mike |

Hey Jim,I know you enjoy Curtis' work as much as I do. So, you also might want to check out Kainoa's book Coinapalooza II: International Deceptions. The routines inside make use of the c/s coin. and it You'll really enjoy "Easy Extraction" and Edgy Bender." It also includes Curtis' EG handling of his New York Spellbound.
Best, Joe

I'll second New York Spellbound (the version of POS1), as well as Coercive Purse.
A real fun routine is Bob Elliot's Citation Silver which can be seen on Paul Cummins Up in Smoke - great practice for middle finger back clip. |

Presto Chango was the first use back in the 70's for this nearly normal guy.
Now there is a wealth of ideas from others and just playing with the gaff. Years ago, I came up with using the M.P. to get a great visual change of a coin. This occured by accident while, you guessed it playing with a pile of coins. While getting a new prop, dvd, book occurs occassionally, these days I like to think "what if", to create new plots and sequences. Perhaps he's got them back in stock now. I'll consider buying Coinapalooza as well. Saves me a dime or two in shipping. Thanks for the tips guys. I'll go ahead and practice using my brand new C/S.
