Is there a method, when sleeving a coin, to retrieve it from the sleeve without either
a) Dropping your arm to your side and letting it fall OR b) Shooting your arm straight out, and propelling it to your hand? I think (a) is the best way, but in some routines, it's just out of place to do this (ie: a spellbound routine up at your chest level, where you want to "completely" change the coin (and sleeve the other), and then change it back immediately (without dropping your arm)). And I've heard about the method (b), but it looks very out of place in my routines (like the one mentioned above), and I think it also gives away the fact that I'm using sleeves. I've had an idea of secretly attaching a wax/thread setup to the coin, sleeving it, and using the thread to retrieve it; but that's like shooting a fly with a cannon. Any other ideas? Scott. |

Why do you need to sleeve it at all?
Could just use a hook coin to hold it against the sleeve for retrieval, or better yet use a sleight which apparently shows both hands empty. I do a spellbound routine without sleeves and people will swear it must be a trick coin of some sort(so its a lot of fun to have it examined). |

Hook coin... didn't think of that. Now there's an idea...
The routine I'm mainly asking this for is a three-coin spellbound routine that relies heavily on sleeving. So I'd still like to know if there is a technique out there for this that I should learn. Scott. |

If the routine is flowing too fast to retrieve from the sleeve then there is no need to sleeve it. Sleeving gives you a beautiful clean display, but if you're not pausing to display replace the techinque.
a) is your best bet, you just need to adjust your mannerisms. You might need to expand your library, there are some very convincing coin changes... Paul |

Magnets....
Or you could just displace the coin into the 11th dimension temporarily, then simply use a TT and some flash paper to retrieve it. |
