Assuming that the performer is truly blind what effects could he perform? Here are a few of my suggestions: 7 keys to Baldpate, P-PIK, Equivoque,Mental Epic, certain
"Swami" effects, & Homicide/Manhattanville. Your suggestions will be greatly appreciated. |

I do truly blind stuff but are you asking about doing a blindfold act or for effects that a dissabled performer might use?

This is not about a blindfold act but a truly vision impaired performer. Ring of Truth would be excellent. Thanks.

May I suggest a midas?
Also, a psychic clipboard relayed to the performer via an earpiece... that would cost around £1500, but they would have the most incredible act and be set for life. Col.

There are also many self-working card tricks that can be done completely in the hands of the spectator, because they are mathematically based. This would leave the magician completely free to concentrate on the patter/presentation. Many of these can easily be adapted as mentalism effects.

Card calling (braille marked Bicycle cards are available, so standard method can be used), drawing duplication, PK effects, book tests, magic square, Knight's Tour, basically anything you would normally do.

EIGHT from my Black School book, and some great material from Steinmeyer's Impuzzibilities booklets. Also a bunch of phone routines. Talk to Slim King.

Not having sight does not restrict the effects he can do, it just makes a different approach to accomplishing some effects a little different.

One of the most touching things I ever saw was Paul Daniels performing unequal ropes for a blind girl.... She held the ropes all the time and could "feel" the magic......
Brought tears to my eyes to see the amazement on her face and I am going "goosepimply" thinking of it now... |

Memory work....giant square....perhaps some stacked deck work (though blind or sighted performer, I'd prefer to see something other than playing cards used--but there's a place for memory work in other than playing cards)....the disadvantage of being blind might be an advantage as the vision-impaired people I've known have had more highly-developed memories.

Remote viewing would be an incredible premise for a truley blind person, I think it would be more believable from a laymens perspective also

Similar to R.V.,
Using a forcing book, it can develope a book test giving a description of what the spectator is imagining, memorizing previously the script that a friend who can see read before to him. A man who can "see" due the thoughts that gets from the people. This will be real amazing!!. Working and rehearsing with an asistant he can feel the colours of cards inside envelopes. In place of say "blue" he can say "I feel something conected to calm, like the sound of the sea" or "I feel nature, it smells like the trees, like walking in the mountain" for green, and so on. Bytheway, the effects he can do will be different if he has been blind all his live or has lost his vision in some moment of life. |

I am sure that you could do an ENTIRE live show, without ever seeing anything. I thought of doing a show kind of like that...in fact I spend a great deal of time in my (Infantile) show, with my back to the audience.
Of course ,anything done on the radio, which is A LOT!

I would say that a lot of Kenton Knepper's works would be well suited for this as your words are you tools in much of his effects.

I believe you could do 'Transactions' sold by Magic Inc. You'd need to add a reason to know the last coins, but the mechanics are all mental or odd/even finger-counting, as I recall.
Scott's comment is dynamite. any effect parlayed into seeing with the fingertips to know the answer, or etc., would play well. Since the person is seeing impaired, further covering the eyes as a clincher, a convincer, would play really strong. Much of Hellstromism is by feel, and you can do this closeup and also get VERY good at it. With a few years of focus, you'd have a new field almost to yourself. You'd be inventing your own tests, etc. With any sort of by-feel coding system and a deck of Tarot, you could have them choose a few cards that represent their situation, you'd feel the cards and start the reading, nailing their area of inquiry perfectly. Lots of things, I'd think, that you could do Sight Unseen.
