Anybody knows who makes Homer's coins? The coins I am refering to are the ones Homer used in Coin One. They are simply georgeous. Just the way I envisioned aged coins to look like.
Thanks Rannie

I heard a rumor that when you buy the DVD he sends back a note suggesting a vendor for the necessary.
From the promo, it looks like he is using worn dollar coins, so that would be the US Mint which made the coins.

I wonder was the bonus effect 'The Deep' just put on to show how magical Homer Liwag's version of coins across is!. I found 'The Deep' to be clunky and confusing!.I know it might just be me but when you see the beautiful handling of
Coin One,the directness, the pure magic of it and then 'the deep' comes on... A really great bonus would have been Mr.Liwag's false in the hands riffle shuffle which I first saw as one of Gary Oullets 'Fulminations'column in Genii.Perhaps this is being saved for a future release..I hope so! I'm sure it looks incredible in Homer Liwags hands.

Well, I agree that Homer's routine is more magical, but the deep is fun too. I do it when I don't have the necessary gaff, and honestly the tenkai move really plays. Being two ahead is great. I learned it out of his book, which is a bit different, and that's how I do it. The difference being on the second coin that travels, those who have the book will know what I mean. I like it a better.
I also wanted to add that Jason Wethington has a great ungaffed version too, which is fun to perform and uses the spectators hands. He also uses the coin that never goes move to in his routine. I mix it up a bit with his routine as well. It is on his dvd "Tied" Once you get the routines honed and refined, you can get a lot of mileage out of them, I do. |

I have to second you on that Sean. Deep is extremely fun to do. With just the right Patter, it should not be confusing at all.

I don't think the deep is that confusing, I do however think there are a few moves that don't look so great when seen in isolation without being done on the off beat.
As for the coins, My todd lassen set looks near identical to the ones he uses. |

The coins are just Morgan silver dollars. If you can find a coin shop, or ever visit America, they'll pull out a huge tub full of worn morgans that you can go through and find your pick. The only downside is that the price of silver is through the roof right now.
On another thread made by Homer right before the CoinOne release, he reccomends getting the shells from Jamie Schoolcraft. |

Where are you located Sean? I travel a lot. That would be great! I have some great looking coins that I wanted Jamie Schoolcraft to work on. I sent him an email almost a month ago.I'm still waiting for his reply. He is probably touring
so its cool. Have a look at my coins. 1907 U.S. Peso. This is a tad smaller than a Morgan. I want to have tham re edged, softened, aged (patina and all), expanded and matched. http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l296/r......Peso.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l296/r......tail.jpg Rannie

Hi Rannie,
The morgans I use on the DVD are by Jamie Schoolcraft. At the time I received them, they were almost mint. It took many hours to wear them down one surface at a time, then I aged and tarnished them in just the right places. I try to use the aging to bring out the detail that is lost from being so smooth. By aging coins that were mint, I was able to keep a pretty sharp edge. Nowadays, Jamie makes worn coins with perfectly milled edges. That will be my next set. My current set is banged up from dropping coins on the concrete during filming! Video is a tough venue for sleight of hand. If you have ever filmed a coin trick, framed tight like Chris' or CoinOne, you'll see how difficult it is to avoid excessive finger movement, or tell-tale actions. Chris' The Deep looks great on video and looks even better live. Thanks everyone for all your enthusiasm! Homer |

With aging coins...do a search here on the Café. It has been discussed in full.
With Antiquing coins also do a search on making coins look older and you will get full details. Here is what you will need (respectively: A sharpening stone(I think you want a wet stone) used for knives These usually run around $50 I think. Some bleach. Put the cons in there and if they are silver they will turn black. There is another chemical that you can use, but I forget what it is at the moment. C |

Hey Rannie. I was a lurker for a while on the Café. I found out about the site from someone at The Houdini store in AC. It was a pleasant surprise to find this site which also ended up igniting my fire for magic again. The other surprise was finding a fellow Filipino on the scene. It's nice to know that there is a scene in the Phillipines. I am also around the same age as you. You could say I was born here but conceived in the Phillipines. That means I speak badly but I could understand, "if you know what I mean and I think you do." Sorry my girlfriend wanted to watch Bill Malone again. Salamat!
