Simon Lovell gave a great lecture this past Monday to the Conjuror's Corner, in Roselle, IL. If he's available to your club, I suggest you book him (this from a impartial amateur magish). I found his lecture a rare combination of offering top flight teaching and entertainment simultaneously. Also, I've just started to go through Packet Killer - what I really love about his DVDs as well as his books is the density of lucid teaching. I'm happy to say it is going to take me a very long time to go through those DVDs - the effort SL put in preparation is evident!

Simon is great. I had the pleasure of seeing him lecture and chatting with him over a beer or two at SAMCON last year. I second Kerpa's recommendation.

Great to hear you had fun.. Yeah, I also had the pleasure to see Simons lecture and hang out with him a bit after..
I still to this day believe his second and bottom dealing, and any of his gambling routines, are the most magical things I have ever seen with a deck of cards! Just being able to see him doing these wonderful sleights is a dream! -Vinnie |

After the lecture, I sat next to Simon for a while over some beers. Simon was showing some beautiful second and bottom dealing (more like finger exercises for him!). I asked Simon if he could do middle dealing (expecting, no doubt naively, for him to say no). Simon immediately stuck an ace of hearts face up in the middle of the deck and I got to watch one great middle deal - absolutely indistinguishable from a normal deal. If Dai Vernon had to search high and low about 70 or 80 years ago for that middle dealer that was the subject of a recent book, he could have done no better than if he had seen what I saw from Simon Lovell!

Thanks for the kind comments guys ... when people really dig what you do it makes all the work learning and creating it totally worthwhile!
Best wishes, Simon |
