I would like to join, but I haven't gotten any response from the local magi in my area... thus... I don't have endorsements.
What is the best way to meet up with local magicians? I am in Parker Colorado... have emailed the Denver Colorado clubs, but haven't gotten a response.

Try to understand most magi are really busy. Persistence will get you far. Try and hunt out a local shop and express your interest.

Lived in Denver about 6 months 3 years back, no response either. They do exist and, at least, used to have an annual show for the public.
If you have been doing magic a while and know a dealer pretty well you will most certainly get his endorsement. You can also contact IBM HQ and exchange some correspondence with them concerning your predicament. I did receive some help when I made that effort. IBM isn't about exclusion (as I have learned), it is about careful inclusion. No, I am not a member yet, and this gave me a good idea... |

I'm going to the Florida Magic Convention in Daytona Beach this weekend, and would like to get my endorsements while I'm there. I've been into magic for years, and think it's about time to get finally join. Hopefully I can find two magicians who will help me out!
Thanks, Scott

Don't expect endorsements via e-mail. You must go to Denver and meet some magicians. The endorsements mean that the people know you. It doesn't mean that they have seen a picture of you and you already know how the breakaway wand works.
Call some of them. Use your phone. If there is a magic shop in your area, ask them for advice. Let me put the shoe on the other foot. If someone sent you an e-mail asking you to open up a bank account so they could transfer funds from their bank in Nigeria to you, would you do it? E-mail is a horrible way to seek an endorsement.

Good thoughts Bill (and I like your photo ) That is sound advice.
SCODY Visit the IBM website http://www.magician.org and search out the Denver ring get their website and find out what their meeting day and time is then GO! introduce yourself. the endorsements should follow. The washington DC ring has welcomed several new members this year the came directly from inquiries from this forum. all we ask is that you show up and participate in ring activities. Im sure you will find the other rings in your area are set up similarly. Mike Taggert VP ring 50 Washington DC |

Definitely attending a ring meeting or two will get you endorsements. If the Denver ring is anything like the Memphis ring, people will be happy to endorse you after they get to know you even a little bit. You don't have to have great skill, but a sincere interest in the art.
