I have an effect that I love and bought years ago in Jersey. You start off with five blank cards and one card that has an 8 Ball on it. Patter, patter, patter at the end of the effect all the blank cards now have the 8 ball on them and one is Blank. Anyway. mine is really old a raggedy so I am looking to replace it. Anyone have a name and website I can find it or no. I think it was called Odd Ball.
Also I want a really adult packet trick. I mean as adult that it can get. I have a Bachelor Party coming up for my buddy, and looking for a few suggestions. Please get back to me as soon as possible. Want to order these things tonight. Thanks again fellas PM me if must.

Sounds a lot like Larry West's "Eight Ball."
As for the adult trick... how about the Magic Ding Dong? |

Yes, "eight ball" is the name that I've always heard this referred to as.
Adult packet/card tricks... Night out with the girls/Every inch a lady. Playboy centerfold Svengali deck. There's one where the kicker is a card showing a "flasher" and there's a hole where you stick your finger through (I don't remember the name of that one though). Not cards but there's also: Multiplying Sponge Rabbits ("go to town, papa" patter) As mentioned above Sponge Balls with Ding Dong kicker.

How about a Professors Nightmare routine.
The patter could be something along the lines of..."There were these 3 guys. One had a short ... another had a regular ... and a third had a really long ..." You get the idea. Also, I'm sure there won't be too many people drinking at the bachelors party because if there were, you could do a "topsy turvy" bottle routine. How about a healed and sealed beer can? "Man, I hate when I run out of beer. But, hey, I'm a magician!" Hopefully, this will give you a few more ideas to kick around. Mark. |

Thanks guys I heard very little about Night out with the girls/Every inch a lady.
Wasnt sure if it was strong. I have the Ding Dong just never really came up with a routine, just more on the Fly. What is Topsy Turvy? And although I liked Healed and Sealed I never bought it. So any links for the Above Mentioned and 8-Ball?

Try this one of mine: http://www.card-shark.de/Beauty_Babes.swf
Sorry, that it has only german subtitles but I think you get the point. The idea: you show some girls (the first one is REALLY ugly) and bet with your friend, that he can get the money if the last woman he reveals is not the ugliest one. He should think of a number between 1 and 6 (or throw a dice) to eliminate the girls one by one. BIG SURPRISE. They are printed on real playing cards. There is also a male version if someone wants to show it to the girls: www.card-shark.de/Beauty_Boys.swf Let me know what you are thinking. Christian

The ultimate guide to packet tricks is Paul Hallas' wonderful book SMALL BUT DEADLY. It contains the history of just about any packet trick you can think of and the best part is that it also contains the updated routines to some of them. You can get it HERE at The Magic Warehouse.
According to page 72 of Paul's book, Larry West's EIGHT BALL was the very first Emerson and West release. I remember as a teenager how I would always find a reason to wander down to the magic shop every weekend hoping that there would be something new and exciting released by Emerson and West.... Just call me a packet trick junkie |

"There's one where the kicker is a card showing a "flasher" and there's a hole where you stick your finger through (I don't remember the name of that one though)." The original version was called "Big Red" the 'flasher' version is just an update. Things like "Night Out With the Girls" or "Every Inch a Lady" can be laugh getters if out with the right 'bar' crowd, but if you have been booked to entertain you are better avoiding this stuff and just doing strong, straight close up. The last time I was at a bachelor party I did "straight close up" as Paul suggested.
At the bachelor party I went to there was beer bottles, cigars, cigarettes, lighters, napkins, food and other stuff. Also the guys played cards which worked out good for me. When I look at the future of the bachelor, what do I see? The wedding is where the old ball and chain is secured. A wedding band and shoelace routine will work. Patter about being put on a shoestring budget and/or how there are times when there is a strong connection and times when there's not. $100 Dollar Bill Switch - where a large denomination becomes smaller. Coins Across - how the wife always ends up with the money. With some modifications on handling and patter fusion effects like the Anniversary Waltz will work. Credit card magic might fit. |
