That's a tough one! They are all good.
I'd just start with the 1st one and work on collecting the rest whenever financing permits. Ultimately, you'll end up with them all anyway. Mark. |

Yea, it really doesn't matter which one you get, because as soon as you read it you'll want the whole set. S

Depending on the kind of magic you do. I found that book 1 and 3 where the most useful to my magic, (mostly card)
There's a good thread describing each effect in the penguin forums (I'm not a penguin fan, but I appreciate the effort by their members) Hope it helps Pierre-Marc |

For me, the OOTW handling 'Galaxy' was worth the set, I think it is in volume 3. WEll worth getting them all, as loads of good stuff, and a very entertaining read.

Personally, I find "Galaxy" alone to be worth the $100.00 or so you'd pay for the entire set.
If you had to get only one book to start, get whatever volume has "Galaxy" in it (sorry I'm at work right now and not by my library). In the spirit of honesty though, I'll say right up front that there are probably 90% of the tricks in these three books that you'll NEVER do, nor will you be interested in doing them. You will however get great enjoyment reading about them. The 10% you decide that you will do are sure to bring astonishment....as Paul intended them to do. These are three volumes that I'll never part with. There's far more to "The Art of Astonishment" than three books of tricks. If you're willing, there's quite a journey to be had! |

You can buy the complete set at http://www.elmwoodmagic.com and save some money. It's cheaper to buy it as a set. As mentioned above, you'll probably end up buying the complete set.

As mentioned earlier, if you can't afford the set at the moment, just pick one and then get the rest as your financing will allow you to do.
They are all good and you'll be glad you added them to your "library." Mark. |
