Hey there gang,
I'll be moving myself out to Las Vegas here right after I get back from doing my Asia tour in December. Tentatively thinking of a March move and that's what's planned so far. But dang, I was shocked out how cheap Vegas is- rent wise. I was expecting it to be like living in Manahattan or something. Three bedroom condo/or apartment 800 a month?! Unheard of over here where I live. Made me pretty happy. I'm used to paying well beyond that! Was hoping to meet some of you that reside in Vegas and perform professionally out that way. Wanted to meet people that might be able to guide me in the right direction (Vegas area wise, and just telling me their experiences working there.) Thanks and all the best, Matt

Apparently casinos lure crime and lots of low income workers, so the house prices tend to fall as well. So... enjoy crime and low income workers?

Andy,
Hey there!! Japan is amazing for magicians! Totally a market out this way for any type of magic show. Very few magicians are actually performers. Most are just hobbyists and love magic. Reactions are great, the culture is awesome, the people are so genial, and the sushi bars make the world go round!! Ton Onasaka is the owner of Magic Land over here in Tokyo- that's a pretty cool place, awesome performer and great guy. Cyril Takayama frequents the Tokyo area with his theatre show. Joseph Gabriel just came through Tokyo here with his show in like September. The Napoleans- are in Osaka, Japan. They own a really nice magic bar. Magic bars are probably the best venue for close up magicians over here. There are tons of them in Osaka. Gold Finger and Dove also visit and work Japan frequently as well. The Tenyo items are big in almost any department store. There is actually a set magic location in a store. It's like an actually magic shop in the corner. With demoers and all. Good high quality magic in some spots. All of it is commercial/normal magical items, but the cool thing is- they incorporate their cultural items. Like nickels to dimes isn't done with nickels, but yen coins. So, their magic is adapted to Japanese culture. It's pretty cool. They also have numerous magic clubs around the Japan area. Most that meet at those Tenyo shops. As far as performing- it's been great. Got to learn a lot about touring in general. It literally was a crash course for me as far as getting a solid working act. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a good performing experience. Travel is cheap, and you could literally 'backpack' your way around the country... best regards, Matt
