I was very fortunate to have signed with the same talent ageny that Del had when I was about 16yrs old. I met Del at a Country Club, John(owner of the agency) and I went there to see Del and talk shop..I will never forget that moment.

My father was a song and dance man. He fronted (mc) for Del a number of times. When I was a kid Del would occasionally come over when they had a show together. My mentor Jim Swoger made some parts for Del but Del put it all together. Jim told me that Del had a show in Jonstown, about 30 iles from the shop, was supposed to be there at 5, called them at 4:45 and told them that his car broke down just so he could learn a rope move. They worked on it till 2 am when Del mastered it. If you ever see me at a convention ask me to show you the move. It must have been important for Del to learn that move because he was getting paid 300 for the night and to pass that up, would be like passing up 1200 today.

In the eighties I owned a magic shop in Grand Rapids Michigan and several times Del would show up and pretend he didn't know what magic was. After the first time we would see him coming and clear off a closeup pad and pot a deck of cards on it and step back. We would then be treated to a session of some of the most incredible card work I ever saw.

Denny Haney worked with Del for years, and is a great source of stories about Him. I wish I could of been at a performance.
