I just received the Deluxe Automatic Funnel by Bazar De Magica today. It sells for around $40.00 which is pretty steep for a plastic comedy funnel.
The gimmick is well made and it loads with water quickly. It looks nice with the chrome finish (even though it's made of CHEAP plastic) The cork that fits in the bottom is made of rubber and fits perfect. I played around with it and it seems to work well. The only drawback is that they could have made it with better materials... metal or a heavier type plastic. I think it will break if dropped on a hard floor. When traveling I am going to keep it in the box it came in to protect it. This funnel isn't made as well as my super funnel which is made out of metal, but the ease of use is a big plus. I would have been willing to pay more if the automatic funnel was made out of metal or a sturdier plastic. Overall I give it a 8 I took off 2 points for quality of materials Mr Mike |

Thanks Mike. I have been interseted in this funnel for a while. I was pretty excited when another Magic Café member gave this a good reveiw. Now you have me wondering about the plastic.
I have the Super Funnel also. I don't like having to reach to the spout to control it. The flow on mine is far too slow to suit my routine also. Does yours run slow, or is mine just defective? Regan

Dear Mike:
Thank you for your review and for the 8 points you gave to it. We really appreciate it! When we designed the Automatic Funnel we decided to make it of plastic because metalic funnels are outmoded and even if you want to buy a real metal funnel (not tricked) Iam sure you will fail. All regular funnels are made of plastic. We offer two models of Automatic funnel: one is chrome plated (as the one you have) and the other one (a little more cheap) is colored plastic (red or yellow). We also thought on made it in softr plastic, but was impossible to make it hermetic. The plastic used is not bad, is a heavy plastic (ABS) And the most important point is that the funnel works perfectly with its valve. Anyway, we appreciate your critics and please, fell free to contact us if you have any question or suggestion. All my best! Quique Marduk

Thanks. I was a little confused as to why the Automatic Funnel was listed as 'Deluxe' sometimes, and sometimes not. I think you cleared that up for me. If I understand you correctly, I guess the 'Deluxe' model is chrome colored plactic, and the regular model is available in either red or yellow. Is the color the only difference between deluxe and non-deluxe?
Thanks! Regan

Hi!
The actual name of the trick is "Deluxe Automatic funnel", but because the name is too long, some dealers forget the "deluxe", but it is the same funnel, colour or chrome. Regards Marduk

Yes, I reviewed this once before here, great idea as far as "release" goes, but my problems were the constant dripping with any slight movement and the small amount of fluid actually held. I have one, but have been actually using my Super Funnel.

I bought one and I love it. I have only used it a couple of times but mine does not drip so far. Does this premature dripping happen from the beginning? Or does it happen after some wear?

Basically the air hole needs to stay under water for the best vacuum. I made a plastic glass into a holder for the funnel. The glass keeps the funnel upright, which minimizes water loss. And any drips just fall to the bottom of the glass. I cut out a slot in the top of the glass for the funnel handle, and glued a tube in the bottom to better hold the snout. I added a small round base to the glass to avoid tip overs. Try this! I am using my funnel effectively again. |

I have always kept mine setting upright in a glass prior to actual use on stage. With the correct sized glass no modification is necessary. I keep it out of site until I need it. Dripping from my funnel is very minimal. I have had mine for several years now and I still love it. No problems yet! Knock on wood.
Excuse me while I pound my head with my fist now. :) Regan

I have a big milk pitcher & multum in parvo section of my show and the funnel was ruining it. I would pick up the funnel and it was dripping and half empty by the time I needed it. |
