I need help on finding a vertical leviation. I don't do an illusion show and don't know too much about the good and bad places to get them. I have done the sub trunk before and know a lot of secrets to how illusions are done-just can't afford to perform them. However, I do travel and perform with my manipulative parasol act a lot! I would like to achieve a self- levitation at the end of my routine. At the end I produce one last parasol. As the confetti cannon goes off I would like to simply stand on a small platform, hold the parasol up, and raise a couple of feet. I want the hook-up to be where I can do it myself, and I need it to be very transportable. I need to be able to fly with this illusion. I also want it to be where I really don't need a backdrop. I wear a long blue coat. Hopefully that will be able to cover up the gimmick. I think this will be a nice end. Kind of like a mary-poppins flying in with her umbrella, except I float up. I recently saw Roxanne and that is what inspired me to do this. She has a giant spider web, hooks herself up, and then proceeds to fully rotate 360 degrees around the web. I hope I have answered all questions for you to help me in my quest to find this vertical levitation.
Thanks, Matt |

I just saw the Saturn Levitation on Tilford's website. A little pricey. Not sure if I can levitate my self either. Can anyone tell me about it.
Thanks, Matt |

Look into the Multipurpose Levitation, I think it is the best and cheapest way to go. Although you do need a backdrop and stage hand.

If you go with a backdrop and a stage hand, might as well go low budget and use one of the levitations in that U.F. Grant booklet on levitations.

I don't think this will work. I don't want to depend on a stagehand. I would rather depend on myself. That way if it messes up I know I only would be responcible. Any other?

Both the Saturn levitation and the levitation performed by Roxanne - "Spinning" -are by Yogano.
If you buy any Yogano levitations (there are several about) make sure that they are actually manufactured by Yogano himself and not a rip off builder. The best way to find original Yogano is to look a French sites. Try Yogano's site: http://www.yogano.fr.st/ (Strange navigation in Java!!) There was a self levitation available at Magic Auction not so long ago. You may want to check if it is still available. |

Fearson has a milk crate illusion available. I'm not a big fan of it, but you might take a look at it.

The Multi-Purpose Levitation still uses a backdrop, however, the new proto-type uses a remote control and it is a one-person operation. No stage hand is necessary and it can be used with an audience member for a horizontal levitation or a levitation using a chair that is brought up from the audience.
I hope to have it done soon. I am redesigning it to make it lighter. Dennis

Mirko does something similar at the end of his act. He floats up a foot or so from the floor whilst holding a bunch of balloons.
You can see it at the end of his act at http://www.mirkomagic.com Not sure what he uses to do it though. |
