I wonder if anyone else has had the experience of a person picking the mate of their original selection (e.g., they originally selected QH, then on the 2nd deck picked out hte QD), rather than the selection itself? Happened twice in a row with 2 different spectators.

Kerpa-san, how the spectators reacted for that?

Penguin Magic's "Do As I Do" trick is in fact "The Upside Down Deck" by Francis Carlyle. It can be found in "Scarne on Card Tricks" (1950) by John Scarne.

And if my notes are accurate, a variant can be found in "Paul Rosini's Magical Gems" (1950) by Rufus Steele. The trick is called "Rosini's Double Reverse".

I hope this helps clarifying things a bit...
My English sucks, I know it. It's probably better than your French anyway...

I love that idea of changing the deck colors before doing "Do As I Do". Thanks!

Al Baker has a great one deck version of "do as I do" in his (great) book (The Secret Ways of Al Baker).

"Do as is do" consistently amazes everyone I show it to. Maybe that's why it's a "classic" !

Do as I do is a really great mentalism effect. The audience picks a card and you pick one too. Both cards are the same. What more can you expect from a mentalism trick ?

An amazing and easy trick, I bought it from penguin
When I started showing to people I got hooked on the reactions
people had Smile but it got a little boring, so, what can be added to improve it?

Get your sly peek of the bottom card during a regular riffle shuffle.Follow up with any false cuts that keep the bottom card in place and the deck face down at all times (eg False 'Up the Ladder' cuts). This occurs prior to the first switching of the decks. This way it will seem impossible that you could have seen any of the cards at the oft.

After the switch back of decks get the spectator to shuffle the deck they hold whilst you likewise undertake a false riffle shuffle and a few false cuts.Only then are the relevant cards extracted.

There is not really much that you can improve on this perfect effect. The above is just being fussy and is not at all necessary.
