Good question Mikey. I'm not sure about a "trade-show client directory."
Lee Jacobs once published the "DIRECTORY OF THEATRICAL AGENCIES: UNITED STATES & CANADA" but it has been out of print, and out of date, for several years now. According to his web site, this book contains "Almost 600 listings of real agencies--for years, this list has been much in demand by agents, producers, TV executives, coordinators, etc., in addition to performers. Used by many top talent buyers and sellers in all media. Use it as a starting point for networking or tracking down prospects for your act. You can supplement this information with searches on the World Wide Web." Could this be what your thinking of? Mark. http://www.leejacobsproductions.com/index-frame.html |

I also use the online searching approach to generating my lists for the marketing mailings I do. It does take a little bit of time, but you will be amazed at jhow fast ytou can produce a rough draft contact list for most any market you want to get into. This is easily done with searches on search sites like google. etc.

For trade shows it's hard. One thing I did to book my first and only trade show was to look at the San Diego Convention Center web site and see what kind of events they're having. I then looked at who is putting the event on and gave the company (it's usually a company) a call and they emailed me a list of vendors. I then started marketing to vendors and eventually got booked. I hated it though. It kind of reminded me of doing restaurant work. I loved it but I hated it at the same time. The info is out there all you need to track down are company names and phone numbers. Hell all you need is a phone number. Call the number and ask who is in charge of organizing the trade show this year. They might say, "Which trade show?" You say, "All of them." And you're in! Good luck!
