Happy New Year!
I've just finished reading the thread about the hot poker swallow, and it was mentioned in that thread about glass nails. That got me thinking about using some kind of camera. I know its probably been done already, but wondered if anyone knew who has done it and with what (if indeed it has actually been done)? Was also thinking that flossing could also be kinda cool done with a camera, especially if the image was displayed on a screen. You'd see it go down and then you'd see it popping out again. Could look pretty funny. So, anyway, if anyone has any info on this kind of thing I'd love to hear from you. Ros

If you want a glass nail I can make you one.
As far as the camera thing...I've never seen it performed and I know for a fact that the equiptment is really expensive. But wouldn't it look stunning on a huge screen?! Brett.

Endoscope. An ear, nose and throat man, or a gastrointestinal specialist, should be able to hook you up, but I think it would kill the mystery alltogether.

I did it for a promotional video, and the tape was accidentally bulked. You become very aware of the diameter of the camera, and it's way cool, to watch the scope go through the passages. One of these days, I'll do it again. The folks with whom I worked are far from where I live...but it gets me thinking.
It reaches different realms of curiosity. I found myself wondering how to do it onstage, with a kind of travelogue description of the passages, and big-screen projection. Pretty funny stuff. It would mean another pile of equipment to haul around.

That's one video that I'd like to see.
Hmm, if any medical types have any of this equipment handy and would like to explore the inner depths of my nose please get in touch. Could be both fun and educational for us all!

I was having that done to identify an ear infection once. The doctor was doing all the, 'just relax', 'this might be a little uncomfortable' stuff, when he noticed I wasn't phased by it. I told him what I do and he had lots of fun looking around without fear of bothering me

There's a fairly cheaper version of the medical device used by safecrackers (legal ones). They drill a hole and snake a fiber optic cable in that has a light in it to see where things are. The big issue is finding a venue that has projector screens and the like to transmit the images.

Honestly I just want a fiber optic light flexible enough to thread up m'nose and out through my mouth...Or at least into my mouth, so I can turn it on and become a human lighthouse.
I did see a flexi necked lighter that would almost work if it was a little longer. As it is, it would only spark up inside my sinus. That would not be good. Gwyd |

Human Lighthouse is very beautiful, especially when the lights are lowered for it.
I believe it originated with a guy from Spain, though I don't recall his name.

Enigma has done this.
And come to think of it he also did this on Penn and Tellers Sin City Spectacular show. I think? (I wasn't there for that one) Along with the glass ball in mouth- led light in nose out the mouth/ Human lighthouse thing. Ask around, somebody has to have a copy somewhere. |

Yes, Enigma learned it from watching the Spanish guy.

I doubt very much that he "learned" it rather that he "borrowed" it whereas "borrowed" is another word for "stolen".

It don't matter how novel an idea be, make it entertaining and make it about something.
There is still a lot that can be done with just a nail and a hammer. |
