I hope people don’t think this is a shameless plug for our product. Rather I am truly curious about others thoughts on this subject.
A customer of ours just emailed us a congrats on releasing the best kids trick in 06. to which I replied “thanks I am so glad you feel that way” to which he replied “I am not the only one, I just saw a post on the Magic café and Bigger Wands got the most votes for the Best Kids trick of ‘06” Now this happened at the exact same time that I am updating all of our product brochures for the 2007 conventions. We are printing 5,000 of each brochure and so I can only imagine we will be using these same brochures for years to come and so I want to make them as good as possible. And it hit me that maybe I should put “Voted best new kids prop of 2006 by the Magic Café users!” So what I was wondering is that ok? It’s not the most official voting process after all But I am honored by the thought that it might be true and I think it would be a nice thing to add to the brochure. Any Thoughts?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
It has been my experience with things like this that unless it is official and can be documented, you are just setting yourself up for criticism and slander. Let the Wands speak for themselves. |

That is all I needed to hear! Better safe than sorry Grandma always said. Thanks Mike, next time I'll just ask you first!

As always mine is the only opinion that counts.

What some merchants do is put a link to the thread on their reviews page.

Surely, if that's the case (I have read parts of the thread, and Bigger Wands did seem to get a lot of votes), then you can legitimately say that. It will not only be good for you, but good for the Magic Café too. You're not being misleading or lying. Why not just email Steve and ask if it's OK?

I still think unofficial should remnain unofficial. I can just see it now:
"he got all his friends to vote for him" "he has a lot of accounts under diffrent names" Refer to the Café, the reviews etc. fine, but I still don't think saying “Voted best new kids prop of 2006 by the Magic Café users!” is wise. It makes it sound like this was an official contest with rules and everything. |

Whilst I respect your point of view, MikeDes, I feel that being too pedantic is unneccessary. WHO would challenge the quote? And if they do, so what? I agree that the thread wasn't an official competition, but it was placed in the "Little Darlings" section, where it should be. The way I see it, Bigger Wands has had almost universal support and praise from the Magic Café members who own them (by the way, I don't have a set). I do think a thorough check of the thread would be wise, just to be sure that Bigger Wands did get the most "votes".
Really, I just see it as an opportunity to attract attention to the prop, and to the Magic Café. Those who see the promotion will be magicians, it seems, so what's the problem? Just my 2c. Doug |

Why not simply state that it received plenty of endorsements from Café members (with link to the thread...). That is certainly true and verifiable. And it is good publicity!

I would put something like..."here is what's being said about our product at the magic Café....
