On the Mac King web site he has "lecture notes" and "rope magic" which should I buy? They are so cheap that I can afford them both, but I don't feel like an informed shopper.

Buy them both, they are 1000% worth every penny.

I am assuming these are the same notes that Mac was selling way back when I got them in 1993. He did a lecture at a local comedy club for the IBM ring in between shows and was one of the funniest lectures I had ever seen. He has a unique take on a stand-up version of the Homing Card that ends up in the shoe. Also, his rope routine is one of the best. I basically only use this or Michael Finney's routine depending on what mood I am in when I get the spectator on stage. I have added bits and pieces to both routines, but they both use the same length of unprepared rope, so I go with what feels good at the moment.
For the money, these are worth your investment. |

I was told that the Mac King routine starts with the Vishnu cut, and restore move. I have an old copy of Shigeo Takagi doing it like a Samari worrior. Now I want to have Mac King teach me how do it funny. It only cost me $8. Al

I recently purchased both, but have yet to receive them. Al, I have a terrific collection of Takagi material (I'm a big, big fan). I'd love to know what you have. Feel free to PM me.

The rope manuscript doesn't go into any detail on presentation, Mac leaves that up to you.

Well neither one really provides any detail on presentation, like I said Mac leaves this entirely up to you.

All I want are the moves. Personality is a big part of any trick. I don't think I can be a Mac King, nor do I think Mac can be me. The Mike Finney rope routine is fabulous, but I think Mike is hilarious without any rope at all.
THANKS Al Angello

From the introduction:
"This routine is based on Shigeo Takagi's Rope Routine. My contribution is a completely revised ending to the trick. The Takagi routine ended with a 'Do As I Do' sequence wherein you cut the rope in half and a spectator follows your actions with a rope of her own. Your ropes go back together and hers do not. This does not fit my style of performing -- I wanted the spectator's ropes to restore as well as mine. What follows is the best method I have devised to create this effect." |

Just returned home from Las Vegas. Attended the Mac King show at Harrah's with my 8 year old son. Outstanding!!
To be honest, I never enjoyed Mac King on television, but he's a tremendous live performer and I can't recommend his show more highly to young and old alike. L. Zaslow
