I know Jack Murray makes great ATA cases... Does anyone have any good sources for fiber cases? I'm looking for someone who custom build them and include foam lining. (at least six to twelve cases to begin with)

This might be sort of far away for you, but look here:
http://www.georgiacase.com They seem to have a lot of different kinds of cases. Also, check with George Kimery or Walter Blaney. They sell fiber cases for their illusions, so I'm sure they can tell you where to get custom cases made.
Things are more like they are today than they've ever been before...

Bryan,
Check with local music stores and school band teachers too. Often there is an existing size that works fine. Good Luck! Bob Sanders Magic By Sander |

I would think in your area of the country would be available in any sort of material you could require. Check the different manufacturers and make the request.

Some of the best heavy duty plastic cases that I have ever used are made by Fiber Case & Novelty in New York, New York. I'm not sure if they are still in business, but their quality can't be beat.
Below is the last contact info I have for them. Mr. Elliot Kozer Fiber Case Co., Inc. 708 Broadway New York, New York 10003 Phone: 212-254-6060 Fax: 212-460-8794 Lou |

I have to second Lou's suggestion to talk to Eliot at Fiber Case Co in NYC.
They built a HUGE fiber case for the Dream Vision I use to own. They made it on time, to my exact specifications and it was perfect for the application. If you don't ship your illusions via freight or air often then fiber cases are they way to go for a lot of your props. It drives me nuts when the flight case weighs more than the prop that is in it! Sincerely, David

That's why I usually use 1/4" side walls. It's much more substantial than fiber cases and still protects the prop. If the prop is very heavy of a client wishes it, I will use 3/8" or 1/2".

Fiber Case & Novelty makes cases out of a heavy duty plastic - much thicker than any fiber case I have ever seen. I have flown many illusions in these and they hold up as well as my ATA cases. Obviously you have to be careful about what you put into one of these cases, but I have used them for the following illusions & they have lasted for years:
Broom Base Broom & Harness Wellington See Thru Guillotine Doves to Dog Curtain Poles Make sure you get the heavier plastic that they use. I also always get 1"- 2" foam lining. As well, I get parachute straps, instead of the tension buckles. BTW, it was Denny Haney of Denny & Lee that first told me about Fiber Case & Novelty almost 20 years ago. Lou |

I have been flying Fiberbilt cases with props for conventions for over 20Years. Let's face it if they are going to bust it with a tow motor, nothing short of Metal will save it.
I found them through photo supply sources that I once had. They have many standard sizes cases that can save you some bucks. As Lou said, padding inside is the key element to making them work. Richard
