What do you think of this effect and do you use it in your close up routines?

It is a great pocket effect. If you want a really nice dice effect with great props, check out loaded dice by Viking/CW.Nice routines and very good for table hopping.

IMO it's a great puzzle and a not so great magical effect.

Fully agree on the puzzle comment re: Badlands Bob.
Loaded Dice is a very elegant effect and the supplied routines gives you a complete performance piece on a plate.

The effect can be great magic if presented with an engaging story. One thing I did was hollow out a hole in a deck of cards and placed the special something inside. Now I can set the box on the cased deck and as I pick it up, the work is done.
A gambling theme allows for having the deck out there. Just a thought. |

Any other ideas on how people are creatively using or hiding the gimmick for this effect??

A PK ring works well with this, things look natural as you handle it.

I have the box inside of an "aged" suede pouch. I take it out, tell the story, and allow the specs to see that there's no room for the die to move. I then ask the spec for a number as I place it back in the pouch.I then give the pouch to the spectator to hold, and tell them to concentrate on their number, and we'll see if Bob's spirit will give us a hand. After a bit of byplay, the spectator removes the box from the pouch and finds their number facing up, thereby proving that Old Bob is still around!
This presentation has proven to be very effective, and always gets great reactions. |
