People rave about this routine Dynamike. There was some discussion about the best trick of 2006 and Bigger Wands was mentioned a lot on that thread, so I think they must have come out last year. There is a performance video here:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1769925004936758220 I think there is another excellent video by Ken Scott on the creative Magic website - you might want to check that out too.

Yep, that is the same video I saw yesterday. I never knew about Bigger Wands until I saw the video yesterday. That is why I decided to bring it up now. Who sells those? I want to check out the price.

Thank you for the links, Gerto. I would not be interested in this if I have not seen the video the other day. Like some guys mentioned on a different thread, "What is good about pulling out a larger wand?"
So now the next two tricks on my list are "Bigger Wands" and "Fantasy Magician." |

Sorry Dynamike and Ken - Just to clear things up - the other video on creative's website is by BRIAN SCOTT, not Ken Scott, my mistake. The one I gave you a link to is of course Jolly Roger.

I watched the videos using these wands and was quite impressed with their potential. They actually seem like a set of props that almost anyone who does magic for kids magic could use, and are the type of thing that could be incorporated into any routine that calls for a wand or even just a magic word. I'm seriously considering these and regarding the price, they'll pay for themselves after one use in an average paid birthday or stage program, especially for the word-of-mouth they'll attract. Geeze, something else to have to buy...

How good would these be if you work in homes and have no backdrop.. a 5 foot or 7 foot wand would be kind of hard to hide and make a surprise appearance..would it have the same impact if the kids saw them lying on the floor before they were produced?

Showmemagic: They come in a bag. Maybe you could leave them in there, and pull them out as you need them. One of the major 'must haves' on my list.

Here's an idea for hiding the largest wands, I think Brian passed this tip along. Assemble the 5 foot and 7 foot wand out of sight of the kids. Wrap them in a bed sheet and set them down behind your performing area. I've done this many times and never had a problem. Never let the kids see the wands before you produce them. The look on their faces when you pull out the 7 footer is worth the price of admission.
I believe Creative Magic will be offering a 7 foot bag soon, so the largest wands can be pre-assembled and stay in the bag. I'm hoping there'll be room for the 5 foot wand it that bag as well. I think Brian said the bags will be available late spring. Ken |

I've been using the Bigger Wands in my family shows for almost a year now. I love them....my ONLY complaint is that they are now for sale to anybody. These really do get the highest recommendation from me; certainly the best money I spent on magic in 2006! I bought an early set from Brian at Creative Magic and use in my bigger and smaller shows alike.
Ken Dumm's comment is correct; Brian passed along the idea of wrapping them in a bed sheet (which I do for smaller shows). No backdrop? No problem: I've hidden the larger wands behind doors, upstage behind other props, and "in plain sight" with a sheet covering. When the final wands come out the looks on ADULTS and KIDS faces is awesome. I have a blast with them, and "don't leave home" without them when performing family shows. |

I've even brought them along for adult shows. If the crowd seems friendly, and I've got the time, I'll set them up just in case. Only used it twice for an adult only crowd, and they played pretty well. Much better when you have a little one up with you though.

Thanks guys some great ideas and the 7 foot bag is a must...I hear that there may be an add on coming...a 12 foot wand...not sure I would need this as most ceilings aren't near that tall....but in the right place WOW...
