I would like to know a complete list of books or booklets about the magic of Peter Kane. Does exist any recollection of his magic? Is there any magazine in which he contributed frequently? Thanks.

Booklets include:
- Combined Card Sessions (Card Session, Another Card Session, A further Card Session)- Combination of the first three books 1982 - Real Live Card Session Undated but I believe mid 1980's - Kane at Table (lecture notes) 1989 KANE (Hardback book) 1982 produced my Magico Magazine NYC 1982 Effects: Wild Card - (1960's but ripped off my so many others)! Mimics (1979) Gypsy Curse (1979) The Shrinking Card Case (1979) The Elongated Lady (1980) Tetrad One (1980) Cash Galore (1981) Bottle Glass Glass Bottle (1985) Strange Fruit (1986) An Ancient Roman Dice Game (1987) Kane's Variant (1988) Finger Impaler (year unknown) The CardLess Card Trick (year unknown) These are the publications and tricks of Peter's that I have collected over the years. No doubt others may add to this list. Contributions to: Abracadabra, Repro 71, Pabular, Magigram and no doubt others! If you require any further help please let me know. I hope that the above is useful!

I wrote to HankLee and said me that "Kane" is out of print until march. May you say me if the booklets are recollected in the hardback book?

Manos - the bulk of the KANE book DOES NOT contain material from the booklets. It is also not purely based upon cards; there are some excellent coin effects. If you buy the book check out Any Four Different Coins Across (page 17). This is a wonderfully clean piece of coin magic and in my view, worth the price of the book alone.

Also "Kane at Sea" (not sure of the year). This was for a lecture he did on one of the Repro Magic cruises.
Hi Kevin, hope you are well. Iain. |

'Sally', I believe, was a version of The Elongated Lady (published within the KANE book) but you are right in mentioning that Kevin as I think is used a different gimmicked card and cleaner handling.
One Card Wonders - never heard of that.......nor the Kane at Sea lecture Iain? Two additional items to add to Pete's catalogue that I've thought about: Blank Amamzement (card effects with gimmicks) Audio Tape with Martin Breese (1978'ish) Manos - I meant to ask.....why the interest mate in one of Britain's finest?

Canvey, P. Kane is a great unknown to me, I only know him as the inventor of Wild Card. Additionally, his stuff is hard to find. Im discovering now the wonderful english magic (via Digital Pabular), and I know appreciate a fine magic intelligence (I´m a fan of Walton, Duffie, Fred Robinson, Dave Campbell, Barrie Richardson, Walt Lees, Eric Mason...and from the other side, Aronson, Nick Trost, Bannon, Solomon, ....)
Kevin, thanks for the link. I mailed to Kane´s son. |

There's talk of combining all of his work into one bound volume.

Canvey. One card wonders is hard to find but if you wanted to have a look @ it PM me. Peter was one of my closest friends in Magic for 40 years & the day before he died gave me one of his laymen tricks, as he put it,I miss the man.

It would be interesting to know if Peter's effects are going to be released BUT more importantly whether it's his family that will benefit. To the best of my knowledge, (maybe Kevin can confirm) the bulk of Peter's material was produced 'in house'.
I trust that unless Peter sold marketing rights, that one of 'the big boys' don't even consider doing this unless, as already stated, his Son Tim and other members of his family reap the financial rewards?

So yet another British Legend gets his work produced by our friends in the USA.
Can't we publish a magic book in the UK for God sake! Well I know we can; Paul Gordon is regularly making a good job of it (and no, I'm not Paul). I certainly hope that Peter's family are getting the financial rewards as mentioned above - not L&L or whoever!

If anybody is still looking for the hardback KANE, we just found a couple copies in our basement storage ("the dungeon"). You can find a link to the listing here:

Hi guys,
Sorry to revive such an old thread, but I thought it'd be exciting to let Peter Kane fans now that I've been in contact with his son Tim, and we will be working together to reproduce Peter's material. First up, we are working (and close to completing) 'Variant', an amazing principle that is very fooling and completely under the radar! Be sure to check out the Kaymar Magic site, and sign up for the newsletter if you want to keep up to date with news of Peter Kane releases Cheers all, Liam. |

When I lived in Denton many years ago...
Peter kindly let me use Kane's Variant for my Order of the Magi audition in the late 1980's, before it was published. I wouldn't tell the panel the secret, as Peter asked me not to.😄 He gave me signed copies of various booklets and his tricks, they still have pride of place in my collection. Sounds like a great project, good luck to all involved. |
