I have been doing magic for a couple of years now and think I am ready to make a little side money on the weekends. I have planned on doing birthday parties, wedding receptions, and other events. Nothing stage worthy, just close up/street magic. How much do you charge and how many effects do you preform, and how long does your show last? Any info will be helpful.
Thanks Erich |

Hi Erich!
This is the age-old question about pricing! There are SO MANY Factors to consider when pricing. What a person in one part of the country may get is not necessarily what another will get in their part of the country! You need to search out YOUR market and find out what it will bear. =Frank=
The Early Bird may get the Worm, but it's the SECOND Mouse that gets the CHEESE!!!

Charge what you are worth. Ignore what others are charging. If it does not work, re-evaluate.

Call a couple of booking agents and tell them that your interested in hiring a magician for a kids show. They'll tell how much it'll cost. When I first came to NJ the going rate was about half of what I was getting in Pittsburgh. I should have stayed with it, but I decided to give it a break. Now I'm back in and trying to update my act so that I can start all over again.
