Last night I took my folks to see Reeds's dinner show at the Voleur in Portland. It was my first time to see him perform there also. What a fun evening it was for both my parents and me.
His show was mystifying and entertaining and was certainly enjoyed by the entire audience. He definitely connects with the audience. If you are anywhere in the area you should make sure you see it. My folks have seen a lot of magic over the years and they thought Reed was terrific. Not only did he amaze them during his show, he also floored them as he performed a few effects at the table. Amazed and entertained by a talented and friendly guy. Thanks for the magic Reed! |

Just a quick PS to my earlier post. I received a call from my parents to again tell me how much they enjoyed Reed's show. They told my sister about it and now they want to go again with she and her husband. They wanted to know if I wanted to go again too. For sure.
I neglected earlier to mention how much I enjoyed watching Reed's take and twists on classic plots. In the show Reed performed his unique version of the Razor Blade trick. I've always enjoyed the Razor Blade trick, ever since seeing Paul Potassy perform it when I was a kid back in the early 70's. I think Paul's version is hard to beat, but Reed's is certainly excellent too and there is no doubt the audience loves it. I won't tip it but my favorite part of Reed's version is his clever ending to it. I certainly wasn't expecting it. Reed's interaction with the audience members is playful and fun to watch. And it is very apparent Reed is doing what he loves. Again, see the show if you can. You will enjoy it! And as a bonus the food at the Voleur last night was very good... |

I saw Reed at a lecture in Buffalo last year and it was terrific! He really takes classic plots and puts a new spin/presentation on them. It was one of my favorite lectures, up there with Max Maven's.

I believe the dinner show is once a week, on Friday night. But he also performs at other places during the week. His website lists the spots he is presently working.

Last night I got to go see Reed at the Voleur! His show was incredible. I took my wife and four of our friends. My wife thought his contact juggling was some of the best stuff she has seen in a long time. "He made the ball look like it was floating at the ends of his fingertips."
I personally loved everything in the show. It was full of emotion and good humor. The first part of the act was silent. He does some contact juggling and sleight of hand with a ball. Very surprising stuff there! My mouth dropped from what I was watching. Next he did a very well done version of the 6 card repeat. He finished up the routine with a suprising end which I have never seen done before for that type of trick. Really revamping the entire effect for his style. I LOVED IT! Check it out in the latest issue of Genii. After that he called up a spectator and did a very funny bit with a vanishing bill to jalepeno pepper. The routine was put together so well. I was laughing the entire time. He really had the place rolling with his unique humor. I forgot to mention, he did a suprising miser's dream effect. The routine was put to enjoyable music and while he was performing this, the looks on my friend's faces were priceless. They couldn't believe how many coins he kept producing. Finally as fast as the coins came, they vanished! If any of you get the chance, go see this show! I will be back to see more of his magic. He is one hell of an entertainer. Brian |

I went to the Voleur again this evening. What a great show!! Infact he put on two shows back to back because it was so busy. I had fun watching the reactions of everyone in the place. He did one trick that got a standing ovation from a huge party of about 30 people. There was so much emotion and energy in the room!
