I am not sure I agree that Letterman is making fun of vents. It would be like telling the same joke twice (with week 2).

As for Otto and George, well let's just say to each his own, but not for me.

Any working links to view the Cummings & Rex clip?

Perhaps it's on Youtube.com or Myspace.com

I'll check it our (on my PC)

Actually, I decided to go back to the Letterman link and guess what... it works!

Sure, a few commercials still play when I hit the start button on the Cummings & Rex clip, but then the actual vent routine kicks in.

It's a very strong set of routines (the dinosaur and then an audinece member sits on Cummings' knee and "becomes" the "dummy".

For those of you that have't seen this yet, you can find it at:

http://www.cbs.com/latenight/lateshow/vi......38.phtml

I find that Cummings has excellent technique and a charming persona that quickly wins the audience over.

My "only" disappointment occurs when I "seem" to detect a major voice change in Rex a few times when he is in mid-sentence.

His voice seems to switch (suddenly) from the high tones into the low tones... or perhaps it was just my imagination...

Did anyone else notice this?

Overall, I really enjoyed both routines and have high respect for Cummings. IMHO, he was the best vent I've seen all week.

Jonathan, I agree - the voice was not constant.

For me, the highlight of the week was - yes, you've guessed - Barber and Seville.

For various reasons, I enjoyed Ventriloquism Week 1 more than this one - anybody else?

Best of,

Dave

So, it "wasn't" my imagination (or poor hearing)!

I too felt that Week 1 was much more enjoyable. Each night, the performer was consistently strong.

But I did enjoy the routines and skill set/persona of Cummings during week 2.

Jonathan, I really want to say I agree, but I got the impression that he was 'holding back' in some way. When I am working in front of an audience I am not sure about I work in the same way - I don't 'let go', if you see what I mean.

I'm sure he had more to offer, in a manner of speaking.

Then again, he was on the Letterman show, not me!

Best of,

Dave

Understood Dave.

Hey... your not "Dave Letterman" are you??? lol

Cummings' face/person reminded me of Gene Wilder to some degree.

Very pleasant and humorous at the same time. Check out the Cummings official web iste for additional clips of his work.

best regards.
