I am looking for some good references on tricks that utilize the Goshman Pinch sleight. I am relatively new to the study of coin magic and many of the tricks I have come across don't seem to routine the sleight in an optimal way. Any favorites out there?

Jay Sankey's Revolutionary Coin Magic dvd. There are plenty of great uses for the pinch on there, and most of them are actually useable in the real world.

Sankey's Revolutionary Coin Magic pooped in my head as soon as I read the title of this thread. It has numerous applications of the pinch, including his great Mr. Clean Coins Across.

It's usually called Tenkai Pinch, after the guy who also invented the Tenkai Pennies trick which you can find in Bobo's.

Mike Power's book Power Plays has a short effect by John West called Pushing Two Quarters. The effect is about changing two quarters into a half and then changing it back.

Hi Dan,
Loads of references to this move, some good ones given above. But if you're "new" get to Bobo's New Modern Coin Magic first... Another great reference to a newbie like yourself would be the Godfather Vinny here on this Café. He has some nice effects utilizing this pinch, like his "Crossing The Delaware" a very creative coins across, that utilizes this move and others. Good luck and Welcome to the Café. -MB

Two of the routines I use all the time are on my "Silverado" DVD, and they both rely on slightly advanced applications of the Tenkai pinch. The "Triple Alliance" routine is a c/s/b based on Scotty York's excellent work--that's where the pinch work comes from. Scotty used the pinch as a steal, a production, and a standing Han Ping Chien sort of action.
And my Copper/Silver/Bent uses a Tenkai pinch for a half dollar that's almost angleproof, and not because the technique is any different. (There's a teaser for you) Of course, the maestro of the Tenkai Pinch is Sawa. If you really want to see what's possible with this sleight, check out Sawa's Library of Magic, Vol. 1.

Marion,
I full hearted second you on the "Crossing the Delaware" that I now had the priviledge to see, thanks to the generous sharing of the Godfather - Vinny, thanks so much again. It is a fantastic piece of close-up magic. Very visual and bears all the trademarks of the Godfather. Andy

Sawa's Library of Magic, Vol. 1 is hard to find. Hopefully, Richard Kaufman will reprint the book some day. I cannot find any used copies or anyone willing to sell.
