Hey Denny,
I'm racking my brain here trying to think of a question that you haven't answered already! Even though I'll see you next week; figured I'd ask here too. When I talked with you and you first told me about Paul Pottasy being in Manila I thought- 'oh cool.' Later that night I think I read your biography on your site for kicks; and then realized, 'Oh cool- Denny was in Manila too!' How did Manila treat you while you were there? Also, how did you exactly manage to set up camp and have your talent agencey in the city? Manila is huge, and back in that time- I'm sure you might've had some hardship. What made you choose there anyway? I enjoyed the scenes there; Filipino girls loved the magic! Just thought I'd ask you! Don't stress over it too much:-) I want to see you next week!! best, Matt

HI Matt,
Yes, the Philippines was the actual headquarters of the theatrical agency that I worked with. While most of our shows were in Vietnam and Thailand, the Philippines was where the actual paperwork was done, work visas processed for the acts, etc. The Philippines was terrific. Back then they had gambling casinos and Americans were not treated so harshly. Things changed drastically after Marcos left and they asked us to close our military bases there. By the way, I am leaving for the World Magic Summit convention in Las Vegas on Sunday morning so I won't be here when you come in next week. I'll be in Las Vegas at my shop there and at the convention for about ten days. I'll be back here in Baltimore on March 1st. Denny |
