Hi everyone,
I was recently thinking about the Ambitious card routine and how it could be used for kids (ie age 6 and above), and came up with the idea of a "Lucky Card", where you tell them that everyone has a lucky card, and if you ask nicely the card will come to the top. You then get them to choose a card, and just before you reveal it to be at the top, you get them to say "lucky card, come to the top". I haven't tried this on any kids yet but I just wanted to see what you all think. I imagine it would give the kids a real feeling of connection not just to the trick, but even more so to their particular card. You could then give the card to them to keep so that it will bring them luck in the future. Let me know what you all think, Dave. |

I like David Regal's idea...on one of his DVDs, he has the spectator draw a puppy. Then you call the puppy and it comes to you.

With kids I very often use blank cards and get them to draw a picture or write their name on one. Ambitious card is great to use pre-show for kids.

I have to agree with Kimmo. Using blank cards works so much better as the children only have to keep an eye one card which makes it easier for them to concentrate! I get them to draw a stickman and then talk about how eating the right food and doing sports is good for you. The stickman then shows the children how fast he can be by jumping from one place to the other.

Interesting post dave, I recently had a load of small gold stickers printed that say
stay lucky keep your lucky card my details phone no etc web address I normally place one of these on a card then force it on spec, result is they have picked their lucky card from a full deck, this would work even better with your idea where their lucky card would keep coming to the top and in the end they get a souvenier with your details. cheers denis |
