I’ve been thinking -and yes it did hurt- about Annemann’s classic plot of using an effect to show the difference between a magician and your-self (the mind reader).
Originaly this was an effect with cards as I'm sure you all know, and in the effect you make comparisons between your-self and a magician, e.g. you both use playing cards but then show the difference by not performing slight of hand but a mind controlling coincidence… or something. Anyway I was thinking about other effects that could use the plot/patter of “you’ve seen a magician do X with Y, well I do this with Y!” ……………..or at least our (mentalists) ‘versions’ of magicians effects. The Cubs & Balls becomes Terasabos (or something similar). The mentalists £10 in to £20 becomes a serial number divination. The bullet catch becomes Russian Roulette. Pick a card becomes think a card. Torn and restored becomes the center tear. Can you think of any more?

If you think about it, any effect can have a mental "spin" put on it, and it is about making the audience see what you want, no? After all, any pick a card effect can be a "think of your card and I'll find it through my psychic powers" effect...

No offense . . . but to me, that is the epitome of a bad card trick turned into a rather poor "psychic" demonstration. I get what you're saying though.

I love your point, and will start thinking on this right away!

You could start a cup and balls routine with three brass cups and one of Outlaw's Scorpions. Then up the stakes by being blindfolded and doing a "lift the cup, smash your hand down" Russian Roulette.

What a great idea for a routine
How about a coin production (Goshman ?), a retention pass and a coin bend in the other hand Cheers TJ |

I think the mind reader would kick the magicians ***. When is the fight?
