Hello,

What is the Waterfall Shffle?

Is it,

(A). After an in the hands Riffle Shuffle, both hands bend the cards covex so that they cascade?

(2). Where the cards are sprung sideways and they pass over each other like an overhand shuffle?

(c). Something else, what?

Thanks.

John.

A.

You can also bend them convex for the cascade.

That's what I said, convex. Do you mean concave?

How come in the TOC for the Encyclopedia it is there several times and in the Springs and Drops section?

Thanks,

John

The waterfall shuffle is not a shuffle, but a flourish. The cards do not change order. Jeff McBride's Art of Card Manipulation Vol 1 has the explanation located right after springing cards. The closing of the riffle shuffle where you bridge the two halves together is called the Cascade finish. The waterfall shuffle is where you drop the cards from one hand to the other so it appears or looks like a waterfall. If you think back to seeing magicans raising one hand up and down with the cards between them that's the waterfall. Hope that helps.

Skulldini's right, the waterfall isn't a shuffle but a flourish. Very interesting that Jeff McBride has it on his video after springing the cards, as this helps provide you with the tension needed (if you reverse the deck) to facilitate the breaks needed for an effective waterfall.

Wonderful flourish, who needs an electric deck? Pah! Only kidding. It does take practice and patience. One of the best tips I got was to practice stuff like this over your bed because when you drop the cards (and you will) you won't have to bend down too far to pick them back up, thereby spending more time on your effort and less on being cheesed off.

Just a thought.

Jeff McBride did a good job teaching it. In fact, Jeff McBride, vol 1. is a good investment... I still watch it from time to time...
