Did you build the trunk or buy it. I am only asking because I want to buy the Illision plans and build one, but want to know hard hard it is to build it first.

My friend bought this from Dan Fleshman. I have soe plans for an alternate version though. It looks pretty easy to build. Depending how in-depth you go on it it'll probably cost you somewhere around $500.

Great job... nice transition!
My suggestions upon first viewing is this. Add the bag inside the trunk. The handcuffs never really did anything for me, but the bag seems to throw people off. Secondly, the person who gets on the trunk, don't place legs so far apart until the screen hides them. It almost looks as if you are making room for something. Just an awkward stance. Very pleased with the video and routine in the end!!!! And standing ovation to have the guts to place it on here for all to see. |

You have to put your feet there. If you don't you'll be standing on an unsturdy surface which can, in turn, break.

After going back and wathcing again I think that you don't need to show the trunk as much. Its almost like taking a prop and saying "I have an empty blah blah blah".
I think it just gives more suspision. Just my 2 cent. Best Brandon

To a layman, doubt it matters much.... just looked odd to me. Was not natural. But the again, neither is half the dance moves I see magicians pull off...he he! Wagster had a good point. Focus more on locking the guy in the bag and then securing the trunk locked.. not so much on the trunk itself. Either way, it looks good to me. |

I bought mine from Jack Murray. The trunk is excellent piece of magic. The trap is very well made and whole trunk too. It's easy to assemble and it cames with custom ata case. There's no sharp edges to get injured and the trunk is big enough to jump in fast. I'm sure I'll use the Dream-Illusions services in future.

Being new to illusions, I really liked it. I like the finish of the trunk and the red interior.

Good job. the change was around 5 seconds. see if you can quicken it up just a little. and magician's can see a little flash of t*** at the bottom- be careful or get a longer curtain. the trunk is awesome. who built it?? its more impressive if assistant is put it bag that is tied. pretty sharp esp. cuz both of you are pretty big guys. kudos from dave!

Great job.
Besides all the other good comments, I would like to suggest that the two of you make it important to make your clothing very colorful and different from the other person. When people know you it is fine, but for a stranger viewing it would be more meaningfull if the appearance difference between the two of you was greater. Again very impressive.

I did this illusion at a theme park for a month, 3 shows a day and havent done it since but I can tell you that I learnt that even 0.001 sec faster can make a huge difference to the applause. We had a three man act and the two guys got into a fight over the girl and one pushed the other into the trunk and so on...
Anyway, as far as the trick goes, two things, 1./ After the switch hold the curtain lower..around your waist more. Its too high up and looks like a lot must be going on below for it to me so high. If your on a stage you'll be surprised how low you can hold it 2./ don't look down after the transition, even if you are looking down to see where to drop the curtain. Looking down makes the audience look down as well which makes them start to connect dots. Just practice the curtain drop over and over. The timing is switch, pause, drop. I'll tell you my awesome muck up: For this show, they made me wear a cape, and just like in the movie The Incredibles, one night it really got in the way. I was the man in the box, when we did the switch , I jumped up to grap the curtain and didn't realise I was standing on my cape. I fell backwards off the box with the assistant. Never wear a cape !!! |
