I have long been curious about Anthony Norman, the author of "Basic Card Technique". A web search has turned up nothing.
There are many references to the book, which is something of a minor classic, but not a word about Mr. Norman himself.
I believe he was (or is-I hope I'm not putting him in a premature grave!)British, because the introduction to the book was written by British Magician Francis Haxton, and the book is printed in "A4" format, which is a common British format but much rarer in the US.
My copy bears the Copyright 1968 by Louis Tannen, but the typeface doesn't match any of the other fonts used in the book, so I believe it only indicates that Tannen was the US distributor, not that they were the original publisher.

I found a reference to him in Abra, in 1946. His real name was Norman Binns, and he lived in or near London. The book Basic Card Technique was originally published by Max Andrews in 1947. Tannen's was the US publisher of record in order to comply with the copyright laws in this country.
